It is the first Monday in May, which means celebrities will be hitting the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City this evening for the annual Met Gala.

The red carpet, widely considered the highlight of the evening, will be livestreamed globally. UK audiences can watch the coverage on Vogue’s official YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok accounts, beginning at 11pm local time.

The free Vogue live stream will be hosted by Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony, and Ego Nwodim. Emma Chamberlain will return as Vogue’s official correspondent, tasked with interviewing celebrities as they arrive.

Known as one of the most significant nights in the global fashion calendar, the 2025 Met Gala will mark the opening of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

This year’s theme celebrates the cultural and historical significance of Black dandyism, drawing from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’.

The accompanying dress code, “Tailored for You,” invites guests to interpret the theme through personalised, formal menswear-inspired tailoring.

Designers and attendees are expected to pay homage to the traditions of sharp suiting and the wider influence of Black fashion identity through the ages.

The event is co-chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, actor Colman Domingo, musician Pharrell Williams, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, and rapper A$AP Rocky. Basketball player LeBron James will serve as honorary co-chair.

While the Met Gala invitee list is never officially released, there is a host of high-profile celebrities anticipated to attend, with names such as Rihanna, Zendaya, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and members of the Kardashian-Jenner family among the stars.

While spectators at home won’t get to see what’s inside the star-studded gala, which costs a whopping $75,000 USD per ticket, the most anticipated part of the evening takes place on the steps outside — and is available for anyone to see.

The Met Gala not only serves as a major fundraising event for the museum’s Costume Institute but also regularly sets the tone for the year’s fashion discourse.
