Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg’s boyfriend Jay Cohen has broken his silence after the actress was found dead at her New York apartment on Wednesday
Michelle Trachtenberg’s tragic death at her New York apartment this Wednesday has rocked both fans and co-stars alike.
The former Gossip Girl and Buffy The Vampire Slayer actress, known for her on-screen magic, was found dead by her mother.
NYPD rushed to One Columbus Place after receiving a distress call at 8am, but despite their swift response, Michelle was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death remains under investigation, with officials stating that it is not being treated as suspicious.
In Los Angeles, mere hours following the confirmation of Michelle’s passing, her boyfriend, talent manager Jay Cohen, aged 63, who has been romantically linked to her since 2020, was spotted at her family’s residence.
Despite Cohen and Michelle reportedly living with her mum in Sherman Oaks since 2021, he informed MailOnline: “The family will not be commenting on the tragedy.”
Only weeks ago, the actress had expressed her affection for Cohen in a sweet Valentine’s Day social media post.
She wrote: “Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face,” alongside a Halloween throwback photo of the pair dressed as Jekyll and Hyde.
ABC News has since indicated that Michelle might have been battling complications related to her liver transplant prior to her tragic passing.
In the lead-up to her untimely death, Michelle, who had amassed a following of 800,000 on Instagram, posted a series of concerning images. Her noticeably gaunt appearance raised alarms among her fans, prompting them to ask if she was alright.
On February 12, Michelle appeared worryingly frail in a post, leading many fans to wish her well while expressing their anxieties about her health. “This is not Michelle,” one user remarked in response to the photo.
Another questioned if she was ill when confronted with the startling image. Additionally, a January 26 picture caused quite a stir as Michelle showed a dramatically thinner visage, causing fans to remark how she appeared to be a “completely different person.”
One alarmed admirer commented, “There is something wrong and I am not a hater,” while another expressed concern, noting, “Gosh, she looks so different. I hope she is okay.”
Fans are pouring out their grief in touching tributes to screen star Michelle, who’s untimely passing has left everyone stunned, reports the Mirror. The bombshell beauty brushed off surgery whispers with confident “happy and healthy” posts, even celebrating her 39th with a saucy snap captioned: “39 and I’m feeling fiiiiiine.”
Michelle’s sudden death has sent shockwaves across the fandom, with celebs like Buffy hunk David Boreanaz left “so very sad” mourning with an Insta-story homage to his on-screen sis.
Devastated devotees say she was the big sissy to all noughties kids, leaving many utterly heartbroken: “She raised all of us who grew up in the 2000s, may she rest in peace,” while others are in pure disbelief: “I can’t believe what I’ve just read, NO! My heart is literally breaking right now.”
Another shattered fan shared: “My adolescent heart shattered into a million pieces.”
