Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has warned her fans against undergoing the popular beauty treatment Dermaplaning, as she said it left her growing a ‘full beard’
Molly-Mae Hague has issued a warning to her followers about a particular beauty treatment that left her with what she described as a ‘full beard’.
The 25-year-old Love Island alum took to Instagram on Monday to caution fans about dermaplaning, a cosmetic procedure that exfoliates the skin and removes fine facial hair using a sterile scalpel or dermatome.
This process gently scrapes the skin at a 45-degree angle, removing the top layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, often referred to as “peach fuzz”. After having the treatment several times, Molly-Mae advised her fans that once they start, they’ll be caught in a ‘trap’ as the facial hair grows back quickly.
The social media sensation shared snaps from her recent dermaplaning session, showing the amount of hair removed from her face by the scalpel. She posted a picture of her ‘peach fuzz’ on a cotton pad, confessing her surprise at the volume of hair removed.
Alongside the photo, Molly-Mae penned: “Dermaplaning… The trap is so real. Look at the amount of fuzz that comes off my face when I get it done… because I leave it so long deciding if I want to do it again or not.”
The influencer then shared another snap of her fresh and radiant face post-treatment, captioning it: “The feeling after. Fuzz free,”, reports the Mirror.
Back in 2022, Molly-Mae Hague first cautioned her followers about the potential pitfalls of dermaplaning, confessing that she had developed a ‘full beard’ after undergoing the procedure for the first time. The Love Island star expressed her regret over opting for the treatment and advised her YouTube subscribers to think twice before following suit.
“If you guys can see that I do have a little bit of a beard, we’re not talking about it. I need to speak to you guys about my battle with dermaplaning – and just wish I never got dermaplaning. I basically have a full beard now,” she revealed. “Basically with the dermaplaning, I got into the habit of having a dermaplaning facial and my peach fuzz just grows back at rapid levels now.”
Molly-Mae went on to say: “It was meant to sort of prevent it from growing back and mean that it would grow back less – but with any hair removal, like when you shave your legs, it means you have to start shaving them more. It’s just one of those things, when you start doing it you can’t really stop. So yeah you could say I wish I never started the dermaplaning because I’m not the sort of person who keeps up regularly with my beauty treatments.”
The ex-Love Island celeb made headlines when she decided to remove all facial fillers, including her lip filler, in 2020, in a bid to embrace her natural beauty. Molly confessed that she almost ‘destroyed’ her face and expressed regret over her cosmetic procedures after seeing a photo she wished never existed.
Succumbing to the pressures of cosmetic surgery, Molly admitted that she could have caused permanent damage to her face, which would have had a significant impact on her life if she hadn’t reversed the procedures when she did.
