One Oasis fan who failed to nab a ticket to the Gallagher brothers’ reunion tour allegedly managed to sneak his way into their Heaton Park gig with a clever trick up his sleeve
An Oasis fan claims they snuck into Heaton Park using a disguise.
The punter, who didn’t get his hands on a ticket for the band’s Manchester reunion gig, alleges he successfully blagged his way into the event by masquerading as someone else.
The Britpop icons took to the stage at Heaton Park marking their first performance on a Manchester platform in 16 years. While some fans pitched up behind barriers to hear their tunes from afar, others tried to infiltrate the venue using more inventive methods.
John Spilsbury, a 42 year old transport planner from Alfreton, Cheshire, claims he adopted a far more understated tactic. Sporting a yellow hi-vis vest and equipped with a bin bag and litter picker, he claims he strolled confidently through the gates.
“No ticket, no problem,” he wrote in a social media post, accompanied by pictures of himself in disguise, reports the Mirror.
“When you can’t get a ticket for Oasis, so take a hi-viz and grabber and pretend to be a litter picker then walk straight into front standing.”
According to John, security didn’t even attempt to halt him as he alleges he even spent roughly “30 minutes” collecting rubbish inside the venue before merging with the crowd near the front of the stage. Once the gig kicked off, John claims he ditched his gear and joined the throng to belt out Oasis’ legendary lyrics.
Daily Star has reached out to Live Nation for comment on this story.
Online Oasis fans branded him a “legend” and a “genius,” while others wondered whether the band’s upcoming gigs will be swamped with fake cleaners: “There’ll be 6,000 litter pickers at the next gig.”
Another person joked: “Wembley’s going to be spotless.”
A reported 50 or so fans allegedly showed up to Heaton Park on 11 July with a ladder and attempted to scale the perimeter fence. On 12 July, large crowds were spotted at the gates as Liam and Noel Gallagher took to the stage just after 8pm.
Three additional Oasis concerts are scheduled at Heaton Park – on 16, 19 and 20 July – before the band carries on their reunion tour with five major gigs at Wembley Stadium in London.
