‘Oasis fans have made my home near Heaton Park smell like urine after gig’

The iconic Britpop band Oasis are set to perform at Heaton Park this week, but not all locals are happy about it as some fans have been accused of bad behaviour

The eagerly-awaited Oasis reunion tour has started with a bang, much to the delight of thousands of music fans worldwide after brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced they’d buried the hatchet to embark on a global series of gigs celebrating the band’s Britpop heritage.

The tour marks the band’s first live performance since their split in 2009, kicking off on July 4, 2025 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The long-desired Oasis reunion – and the tour – was confirmed on 27 August 2024, just two days shy of the 30th anniversary of the band’s influential and iconic debut album, Definitely Maybe.

Established in Manchester in 1991, the band’s homecoming gigs at Heaton Park commenced on Friday, 11 July. They’re scheduled for five dates, with the final one set for Sunday, 20 July.

However, while most attendees were enjoying the show respectfully, it appears some weren’t as considerate towards the local community.

In an anonymous post on Reddit, a Heaton Park resident complained: “For those Oasis fans who are at Heaton Park tonight. Thanks,” reports the Mirror.

“You’ve parked your cars on private land and taken my parking space. There’s cans, bottles and other rubbish left on my doorstep.

“When I left earlier tonight, there were four of you taking a p*** up the side of my building despite four portaloos literally just across the road. Approaching my flat, the place smelled like p***.”

While some locals might be thrilled to hear the band’s vocals after the frantic rush to secure tickets for the shows, one individual was far from pleased.

They vented: “The weather is so hot so our windows are open. The music is so loud, despite being a kilometre away, that we can’t hear the TV.

“Parklife wasn’t this bad. Absolutely f****** shameful display.”

In the comments section, people chimed in with their thoughts. One person suggested: “If you contact the community impact team they will arrange a clean up crew to attend your premises, there are council staff on the streets”.

Another commented: “Can’t say I’m surprised,” while a third quipped: “Just don’t look back in anger.”

A fourth resident living near Heaton Park shared their view: “I live pretty much across the road from the park and (so far) this has been so much less disruptive than Parklife.

“Chances are it’s not every Oasis fan, but with 80k people there’s bound to be the odd t***** here [and] there.”

In a subsequent comment, the original poster added: “I posted mostly for fun and fair play to the posters here, most of them have been hilarious. There are absolutely far more serious issues to get upset at.”

The Community Impact Team is tasked with “managing and mitigating the impact of major events held at Manchester City Council’s Heaton Park”.

Those affected can reach out to them by filling in the online form, ringing 0161 883 1962 (on event days from 2pm to 12.30am or leaving a message for a callback), or by popping into the Maccabi Community and Sports Centre (open from 4pm to 9pm on event days).
