A ‘leaked setlist’ for Oasis’ upcoming gigs left fans of the Britpop group puzzled after they spotted one glaringly obvious detail that they couldn’t help but miss
A cheeky prank left Oasis fans in stitches when a fake setlist for the iconic Brit band’s upcoming shows was shared.
Although some enthusiasts initially believed the supposedly “leaked” lineup for Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher’s reunion tour, an eyebrow-raising cover of Crazy Frog’s internet hit, coupled with a stage direction of “pause for fight,” raised suspicions.
But before the fake list was exposed, some eager fans of Oasis had their hearts set on hearing timeless anthems like Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger live this summer.
What sealed the deal as a masterful troll was the insertion of the Crazy Frog cover and a “fight break” in the lead-up to Live Forever – leaving people amused, and those who had been duped, red-faced.
Taking to Reddit, fans sounded off on the r/Oasis board with many ridiculing the idea of the setlist being legit. Among the skeptics, one laughed it off saying, “No Little James? FAKE.”
Others joked about how it was obvious oasis wouldn’t last three songs without the brothers getting into a dust-up, quipping: “F**king right it starts with Hello.”
Some furious fans got wind of the joke, with one fuming: “People are w***ers.” Those who initially fell for it got roasted by fellow users. One wrote: “Can’t anyone just wait for a surprise anymore? I hate the internet lol.”
Another replied: “Did you read the setlist? I know I’m going out on a limb here but I’m not entirely convinced it’s real.”
Fans are loving the fake setlist, and say it may offer a view of what an Oasis reunion setlist might look like, with some taking to social media to share their predictions based on the Gallagher brothers’ recent solo gigs.
One fan reckoned: “It’s not that hard to guess the setlist. Look at Liam’s setlist, take out solo songs, put on two to three songs Noel sang vocals like Don’t Look Back in Anger, Half the world etc and you’re pretty close.”
One user even suggested Oasis might throw a curveball by adding some lesser-known tunes to their lineup as a cheeky response to the leaked setlist mock-up.
A user quipped: “Imagine if they protested this leak by filling the set up with material from the 2000s.” Another punter seemed quite happy with the potential playlist, admitting they’d be impressed if it turned out to be legit.
They commented: “To be fair, if this WAS the setlist and they swapped Crazy Frog for something off SOTSOG (and kept the fight) I wouldn’t even be mad!”
Meanwhile, another fan made light of the placement of a fictional hit in the set, joking: “Amazed that their most popular hit Pause for Fight is so late in the set.”
This prompted a reply from another, who noted: “If they play it early, a lot of people would just leave after that, sadly. They have some great deep cuts, but still the casual listeners just care about the popular hits, PfF being probably the most popular of them all.”
