With a surging roar from the crowd, Liam and Noel marched onstage at the Principality Stadium and soaked in some applause before smashing into opening number ‘Hello’
Oasis’ hotly anticipated reunion show has been branded “terrible” as several fans launch into complaints against the Gallagher brothers, although some fans loved their return.
At the time of writing the legendary Mancunian rockers are gracing the stage at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium this evening (July 4) for what is the first of a string of high-profile comeback shows. The last time Noel and Liam played together was in 2009, but fans still flocked to Ticketmaster websites earlier this year to pay through the nose for tickets to these shows.
The elephant in the room then: are the Gallagher brothers actually going to be any good, and therefore justify the hundreds – in some cases thousands – of pounds fans spent on seeing them reform? Well… turns out they might not quite be hitting the mark in Cardiff.
One particularly incensed attendee of the show angrily took to X and wrote: “What an average show in Cardiff so far. Oasis just playing song after song. No actual ‘show’ on view like proper big acts do these days. Terrible atmosphere and underwhelming thus far.”
Quite what’s awful about a band “playing song after song” at a musical performance is beyond the Daily Star. However, there are quite a few reports on social media of there being not much “banter” between the duo.
Perhaps though, it’s wise given, you know, the decades leading up to these gigs where the siblings hurled menacing abuse at each other via the media. Just keep calm and carry on lads – do it for Bonehead.
Another user vented, confusingly: “So bad. Oasis destroyed.” Just what this bloke meant to say is again, beyond us. “So bad” = really bad, obviously. But “Oasis destroyed”… is that their reputation, or perhaps slang for them destroying on stage and reeling off a Godlike Genius performance?
We may never know, but this person sounds like they’re definitely having a really good, responsible, time at the gig.
A third person provided less ambiguity. “Even on a bad day it would sound great but this sounds f****** biblical,” they typed with passion while sharing a clip of Oasis smashing into set opener Hello. “Take me back, take me home. August 28th can’t come soon enough!!!”
This comment was thoroughly – and deservedly – backed up by a vast swathe of Madferit Fans voicing their relief at the brothers’ return. “The boys are back in f****** town,” someone wrote, summing up the feelings of millions of Brit music fans.
In fact, out of the thousands of positive comments about the band’s performance, there’s only a few printable given the boisterously expletive-laden sentiment abounding round World Oasis right now.
So there – some “biblical moments”, but slightly cagey, like the first half of a Cup Final. No sign of any Liamisms yet, as far as the Daily Star knows he hasn’t called anyone a potato…yet.
