Olly Murs has been forced to cancel more tour dates after he recently walked off stage just 30 minutes into a show in Glasgow which left his fans completely baffled
Olly Murs has cancelled more tour dates.
The news comes shortly after he abruptly left the stage during a concert in Glasgow, when the singer surprised fans by announcing he couldn’t continue after just five songs.
After performing his hit Kiss Me Like You Mean It, Olly informed the audience that his voice had given out and he could no longer deliver the performance they deserved. “I can’t go on,” he confessed, promising to make amends so he could return.
Murs has confirmed that his show at the AO Arena will not take place. “Never expected to be writing this today,” a downcast Olly shared on Instagram.
“To everyone in Glasgow last night, I want to start by saying sorry. What happened last night has never happened to me before and I’m truly gutted and upset about it. In 15 years I’ve never had to leave the stage after 30 minutes into a show, but my voice was failing me.”
“I was panicking and worrying on what to do which gave me no choice but to address it. The thought of upsetting people and letting you, the fans, down has hit me hard today.”
“Speaking in front of you last night and seeing people upset was hard to see but from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry but I had to put my health first,” reports the Mirror.
He apologised by saying he is “deeply sorry” before announcing the news that he is “going to have to cancel his shows”.
“I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48-hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal cords.”
Murs said he’s had “the best time on his tour” so far and is “so sorry to let his fans down”. He assured them he is “hoping to be fighting fit in a few days” so that the tour can be completed.
Olly reassured his fans that they will receive refunds from their original point of purchase.
His post was met with numerous supportive messages and among them was Scouting For Girls frontman Roy Stride, who wrote: “Ah mate. Get well soon buddy. Worst feeling in the world – nothing you can do.”
Blue’s Duncan James also commented: “Get well bro. See u in London.”
