EXCLUSIVE: TV icon and Fun House legend Pat Sharp has been asked about bringing his mullet back to the spotlight, but fears he won’t look as cool at his age, and may look a bit like a ‘king’
Nineties telly legend Pat Sharp is frightened of bringing back his iconic mullet because he fears he’ll look like Tiger King Joe Exotic.
The Fun House star hinted he’d consider growing out his hair again to go “business at the front, all party at the back” but fears he would look more like the jailed Netflix animal lover than his old self.
Pat spoke exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with Butlins Big Weekenders and said: “I think if I was to bring a mullet back, it would be a bit weird.
“I would look like the guy out the Tiger King, which is not a good look.
“I have noticed it’s a big thing in Spain at the moment. What’s not to like?”
During his Fun House reign in the 90s, the hair-do even got him industry recognition after he was awarded ‘worst haircut’ in the Smash Hits poll multiple years in a row.
But Pat loved every minute of it, he said: “It was great publicity.
“At the same time, I was also winning best DJ and most fanciable male.”
The telly star admits he is better known from his famous mullet than anything else he’s done in his career.
He said: “That haircut has become probably more iconic than any of the TV shows and anything else, any of the radio I’ve done, or even my Butlins gigs.”
The look appears to still be a big deal with fans, even in 2025.
The host claimed: “If you type mullet wig into Google, the first thing that comes up is a Pat Sharp wig.
“And I don’t get any money from it!
“All these years on, I’m grateful people are nothing but nice to me, whereas back in the 1980s and 1990s, there would be the odd guy shouting obscenities at you as you drove along with your personal number plate.”
The unique style was first born after Pat visited Norway during a work trip.
“I picked up my hairstyle and met my wife of 34 years. I must have done something right because I’m still talking about it all these years later,” he laughed.
Pat has been working with leading UK holiday resort, Butlin’s Big Weekenders, in the light of their new research which revealed the number one misquoted song.
Topping the charts as the song Brits are most commonly singing wrong without knowing is ABBA’s Dancing Queen, with Queen’s We Will Rock You in at number two and Blank Space by Taylor Swift in third place.
Pat commented: “The joys of music, whether that’s dancing along with your friends on holiday, singing in the car, or just listening on your own in your room, brings everyone together.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to work in the industry for 43 years and have witnessed the rise of some truly unbelievable songs and acts, which are still adored by everyone to this day.
“Seeing Dancing Queen take the crown as the most misheard song to me is testament to how iconic it is. Whether you know the words or not, it’s a universally loved tune you can’t not sing along to.”
