Peter Andre wears dreadlock wig in crazy movie as fans say ‘this can’t be real’

Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre was thrilled to hit the big screen back in 2023, but viewers have since looked back in horror as the Aussie singer donned an insensitive wig

Fans have been left livid after discovering Peter Andre wearing a dreadlock wig in a film.

Mysterious Girl singer Peter, 52, has been snowed under with life and work opportunities in recent months, after he celebrated his darling baby’s first birthday. He also has been quick to defend his daughter Princess, after rumours circulated she would be landing her own reality TV show.

But while the Aussie superstar may be busy with his own life, fans of the singer have hit out against one of his upcoming projects. In his first ever blockbuster film, Peter could be seen donning a wig showing him to wear dreadlocks, a hairstyle worn by both Black people and the Rastafarian movement.

Speaking at the time, Peter confirmed he had landed the main role in the movie Jafaican – a parody on the word Jamaican. The film follows Peter as he goes undercover as a Jamaican gangster in order to steal millions of dollars.

“I’ve been working on a feature film for well over a year now; we have finished the film, it’s now being edited,” Peter – who is also serving as an executive producer on the film – beamed in an Instagram video uploaded to his profile back in April of 2023. “It’s gonna be a great summer, my first feature film and I’m so so so excited.”

The trailer for the film sees Peter begin his training to go undercover for his heist, including developing a Jamaican accent – including learning the patois of the island. Peter is also not the only British star of the film, with rising star Lamissah La-Shontae from Burnley also landing a major role as Sasha in the flick.

But while Peter and Lamissah were thrilled to be a part of the film, fans watching the “light-hearted film” were not as impressed. Taking to their social media, one user was left completely flabbergasted at the supposed cultural appropriation in the movie.

“Peter Andre starring as the lead character of a film called JAFAICAN where he’s pretending to be a Jamaican and wearing a dreadlock wig is not something I was expecting to see in the year of our Lord 2025,” they penned. “But here we are.”

The user continued to fume at the movie, slamming Peter as “the Black British Tyler Perry”. Several other users were left stunned at the move and immediately flocked to the comments to share their disgust.

“Is this for real?” one commenter asked. “I have no words.” A second fumed: “This is so disturbing, disrespectful and b*******!”

A third pleaded: “This CANNOT be real!” whilst a fourth added: “I really thought – HOPED – I would never have to see a fake dreadlock wig in any type of production ever again.”

Since the trailer dropped earlier this week, the film’s social media team has taken the criticism on its chin, sharing screenshots of articles written by the media. Peter himself has not responded to the comments made against him.
