Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes ended their 14-year marriage last year, but have remained in each other’s lives due to their son Jack – and Ruth is said to be worried about her ex’s health
After parting ways last year after 14 years of matrimony, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have been cracking on with their separate lives. But now, insiders claim that the 64-year-old Loose Women star hasn’t totally pushed aside her care for Eamonn – concern that’s only growing now as he faces health woes.
According to reports, Eamonn has been wrestling with his health at GB News, sharing the Breakfast show spotlight with Ellie Costello. A source revealed that he’s been “wheeled in and out of the studio” amidst continued back problems and trouble with getting around.
He even set off alarm bells lately by vanishing from his regular slot on the channel without a word. A source suggests: “Ruth honestly doesn’t talk about Eamonn, she’s really moved on from that part of her life. But of course, she does care about him, because they share a child and they were married for a long time,” reports the Mirror.
The insider revealed that noting that while feeling ‘sad’ to see her ex struggling, Ruth remains resilient, putting herself first: “She has seen that he is struggling, and it’s sad to see anyone in that situation. Of course, she fears for him and doesn’t want to think of Eamonn battling with his health – but she has to focus on herself and her own life now.”
Eamonn’s been grappling with mobility since undergoing surgery in 2022 for a slipped disc and having a double hip replacement done back in 2016. Now frequently spotted with a walking stick and sometimes his wheelchair, he made the sombre admission earlier this year that he ‘may never walk again’.
It’s gut-wrenching to see – especially for someone like Ruth who’s been Eamonn’s rock, and even taking care of him personally through rough patches.
Ruth hasn’t shied away from discussing the hardships of being a caregiver during Eamonn’s health woes, having shared cozy quarters with him at home. She once confided: “It isn’t always easy, but if something happens to somebody you love, you help them as much as you can”, conceding that being a carer is often “testing,” yet she and Eamonn always tackle every challenge “day by day.”
Ex-This Morning duo Ruth and Eamonn forged a wonderful marriage in 2010 after more than ten years together. Known for their telly magic, off-air they’re just as tight-knit – parenting their lad Jack, who’s now 23.
Now, Ruth is fiercely concentrating on carving her own way forward, steadfastly hosting Loose Women and striding ahead with undeniable poise. Just last month, according to a source speaking to New, the telly icon was still donning her wedding ring while grappling with the close of a lengthy union and squaring off their divorce settlement.
Over in another corner, Eamonn, 64, appears to have struck up a romance with relationship counsellor and single mum-of-three Katie Alexander. He was snapped just last week enjoying his time with Katie as they supported her eldest’s football cup final antics in Wakefield.
