Sidemen star opens up about ‘painful and embarrassing’ moment with famous DJ

EXCLUSIVE: Sidemen star Vikkstar is about to embark on his first-ever UK tour as he makes moves in the EDM scene after spending time with some big players in the industry

Vikkstar shared his embarrassing moment

Sideman star Vikkstar has recalled a moment he was left embarrassed and in agony after a run-in with a huge DJ.

The YouTuber turned DJ, and one of the brains behind Netflix’s Locked In, spoke exclusively to Daily Star as he prepares for his first UK tour.

When asked if he could share any embarrassing moments he’s had since fame, he opened up about a blunder which involved none other than Steve Aoki.

Vikkstar, 29, told us: “Almost a decade ago, we were filming a YouTube original series in the French Alps with Steve Aoki. He smashed a cake into my face as he famously does, but the cake was completely frozen. It was both painful and embarrassing!”

As he gears up for his own shows, he’s hoping he will avoid any more embarrassing moments and instead just thrill fans with his bass-heavy beats.

Talking about his pending gigs, the fast-rising DJ said: “I am so looking forward to my UK tour! I did a few shows when I was last in Australia, but this is my first proper tour.

“I’ve been so lucky to have done quite a few shows supporting the legendary Alan Walker over the past year, so although there are always some nerves, I feel mainly excitement, and also looking forward to debuting some of my new music.”

But will any of his fellow Sidemen pals be there to support? He answered: “As a group we, as the Sidemen, are all very supportive of each other, and I know they’ll always be excited for me – as I am for them in everything they do!”

Vikkstar will be taking the stage in four major cities on his debut headline tour this month, including shows at XOYO Birmingham (4 Apr), O2 Ritz, Manchester (5 Apr), District, Cardiff (11 Apr) and SWX, Bristol (12 Apr).

Vikkstar has been making serious waves in the music industry, with his latest release alongside Nicky Romero on Protocol Recordings already amassing over 2 million views on YouTube.

With an upcoming collaboration with global superstar Steve Aoki and a supporting slot on Alan Walker’s European tour – after smashing through 130 million streams with his ‘Better Off Alone’ collab with Alan Walker and Dash Berlin – Vikkstar is proving himself as a credible artist in the electronic music scene.

The past year has seen Vikkstar take the global DJ stage by storm, dropping his high- energy sets in Australia and India, through to Scandinavia’s biggest beach party, Palmesus, in the French Alps at Val Thorens, and on home turf at the iconic Ministry of Sound in London.

Vikkstar added: “I’m beyond excited to bring this tour to the UK. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience for everyone who comes out. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I can’t wait to showcase my DJ sets to my fans.”
