The eldest member of 80s band Five Star, Stedman Pearson, has passed away age 60, as tribute flood in from heartbroken fans of the pop and R&B group that produced System Addict
A member of a huge British 80s band has passed away age 60, leaving his family and fans devastated.
Five Star singer Stedman Pearson died, leaving behind a music legacy from his days in the 80s pop and R&B group which he formed with his siblings.
Stedman was the oldest of his five siblings who he performed with around the world, Lorraine, Deniece, Doris, and Delroy Pearson.
Stedman is the eldest of five siblings, and he studied both dance and fashion at college prior to embarking on a career in music.
They first formed the group in 1983 when Steadman was just 19.
Their dad Buster Pearson put them together in a bid to create the next Jackson 5. They had chart success with tracks such as System Addict, Can’t Wait Another Minute and Rain or Shine.
It is not currently clear how the star died, but fans continue to pay tribute to him online.
One shared: “Sad to hear that lovely Stedman Pearson has passed away. I knew Steeman in the noughties when he would often come down to Heaven where I dj’d.
“He was such a sweet gentle person and always used to smell divine. I commented on this once to him and the very next week he came to see me with a huge and very expensive bottle of cologne as a gift. He was lovely.
“Sleep well Stedman and once again – thank you for my cologne. I still have the bottle!”
A second wrote: “Was hoping this wasn’t true but I think it sadly is. Anyone who knows me know how much I love Five Star; my childhood was a magical time thanks to their music, mesmerising dance routines and of course the incredible costumes. Such a sad loss. RIP Stedman Pearson.”
While a third penned: “Very sad to hear about the passing Steadman Pearson of @5starofficial – who were one of my favourite childhood music stars… Condolences to @DeniecePearson , Doris, Lorraine and Delroy.”
“I’ve just heard the terrible news that Five Star singer @StedmanPearson has passed away. That’s a shocker!! R.I.P Stedman, and sincere condolences to the entire Pearson family,” a fourth posted.
