Eva Amurri, the daughter of Susan Sarandon, recently underwent a breast reduction and has been candidly documenting her recovery journey on social media with her followers
Eva Amurri, the offspring of Hollywood icon Susan Sarandon, is dishing the dirt on her breast reduction surgery saga, giving her fans a no-filter look at the post-op life.
The 40-year-old lifestyle guru and actress talked about going under the knife earlier this month, saying it’s been on her to-do list for yonks, especially after copping flak for her wedding frock’s daring neckline last year.
Some trolls were “scandalised” by her getup – but Eva wasn’t having any of it and clapped back in style. Taking to Instagram, she’s been keeping it real with her followers, kicking off with a mirror selfie while chilling on the floor in a snazzy green-and-white striped tracksuit and a comfy bralette.
Next up, Eva dropped a top tip for anyone else on the mend, posting a pic of a dinky water bottle complete with a straw, and quipping: “If you think you’re going to use your Stanley while you recover, think again! It’s way too heavy to safely hold after breast surgery so I’m using this water bottle with a straw in it.”
But it ain’t all been plain sailing. The star confessed that catching Zs has been a right pain, griping: “I hate sleeping on my back, so I know these next few weeks are gonna be rough for me with sleeping,” despite splashing out on special pillows that haven’t really done the trick.
While her doctor has only given the green light for gentle activity, Eva is keeping active with daily strolls and a bit of tech assistance. “I’m not very good at motivating myself with exercise, so I got a Fitbit to help me. So far so good,” she revealed, reports the Mirror.
Another challenge for Eva has been personal grooming. She posted a salon selfie flaunting her new blowdry, which she admitted was essential: “Blow drying my own hair turns out to be an absolute no-go. Lifting my arms and holding the hairdryer is really not good for my healing. I decided to lean in and treat myself to a multi pack of blowouts at a salon I can walk to, and I’m so happy I did.”
As she continues to heal, Eva has been taken aback by some unexpected physical reactions, like “random bruising” that’s shown up. She mused: “It’s been strange to see my body bruised, and recovering from trauma. It’s not an easy sight, and it’s definitely brought up a lot for me. I’m looking at these next few weeks as a great opportunity to be kind to myself and nurture myself.”
One of the more difficult emotional hurdles has been learning to embrace downtime. In a moment of reflection, Eva confessed: “Resting is harder for me than I realized. I feel a lot of guilt when I’m not doing something that can be seen objectively as productive. This recovery time has been an interesting lens through which to view my own thoughts and feelings about myself and my own value. It’s something I want to keep thinking about.”
Eva talked about her decision to go under the knife on her blog, Happily Eva After, dubbing it a landmark moment. It was her “first surgery” and her first-ever experience with general anesthesia.
Before going in for the op, Eva shared that she was rocking a size 32F bra, which was making her daily life a right pain. “Having extremely large breasts can not only affect you physically but also mentally. It can make you extremely self-conscious and insecure,” she penned, opening up about the relentless back ache, the nightmare of clothes shopping, and the fact that there’s no escaping the hefty load.
“Having huge boobs has been a blast at times,” she quipped.
Becoming a mum added to the mix, with Eva pointing out how her chest had gone through all sorts of changes, ending up with a bit of droop and sag. But hitting the big 4-0 gave her the nudge she needed.
“I realised that I can absolutely do scary things, and most importantly that living how I want to live in my own body is WORTH IT,” she declared.
This bold move comes hot on the heels of Eva copping flak for her choice of wedding dress – a risqué Kim Kassas number with a plunging neckline and a see-through veil, which she donned for her 2024 nuptials to chef Ian Hock.
When she posted the pictures on Instagram, her fans weren’t all convinced the dress was right for the occasion. One commenter wondered: “Am I the only one focusing elsewhere?” Another stated bluntly: “This is way too much for a wedding!” A third simply couldn’t get their head around the outfit, asking: “What in the name of Holy Matrimonial .. is going on?”
However, Eva refused to back down in the face of suggestions her wedding look was too revealing. She posted a fresh Instagram update alongside a photo with Ian, saying archly: “And to anyone scandalized by my breasts not being ‘put away’….” – before sharing a cheeky zoomed-in shot of her chest, writing: “Feel free to screenshot this for later.”
Opening up about why she chose that particular gown, Eva later told People: “I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance.”
She also added: “I love how it has a vintage feel and is ultra feminine without being overly pouffy.”
