Sir Alan Sugar made a brutal swipe at Prince Andrew on a recent episode of The Apprentice as stunned fans noted that he could end up “handing his titles back”
Lord Alan Sugar left BBC viewers gobsmacked.
The Apprentice star made a controversial quip about Prince Andrew, prompting some cheeky fans to joke that the business tycoon might lose his peerage. Candidates faced the classic TV shopping challenge and tried their luck at live presenting, aiming to sell products on one of the nation’s favourite shopping channels.
In the tense boardroom debriefing, Lord Sugar queried one group on their curious selections. “So, you chose beauty and outdoor? You ended up with the face spa, is that right?” The team collectively nodded, reports the Express.
Amber-Rose jumped in to describe the product: “Yeah, so it’s supposed to unclog your pores and give you an even skin complexion,” but was cut off by Lord Sugar who retorted: “I didn’t see you use it. I saw the steam coming out of it. Half an hour of that would even get Prince Andrew to sweat.”
Laughter exploded across the boardroom following the unforeseen dig, and Lord Sugar carried on without missing a beat. Social media was ablaze with reactions to Lord Sugar’s quip.
One X/Twitter user teased: “Careful, Sugar, or you’ll be handing those titles back… #TheApprentice.” A second fan posted: “Did he just make that joke on the BBC? [crying laughing emojis] #TheApprentice.”
Another couldn’t contain their shock, writing: “Not Lord Sugar dropping a Prince Andrew joke on BBC primetime [dead emoji] #TheApprentice.”
“‘Half an hour of that would get Prince Andrew to sweat!’ Lord Sugar taking a swipe at the royals on #TheApprentice,” another viewer wrote.
This follows Prince Andrew’s claim in a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview that he was unable to sweat due to an “overdose of adrenaline” during the Falklands War in 1982.
One Apprentice contestant spoke to Daily Star about what the stars got up to in the house. Reece Donnelly, who appeared on the 2023 series, told us about their antics away from the camera.
While filming, all the hopefuls bunk up in the same house and Reece told us: “There was lots of damage to that house come the end of the series! From where people were playing hide and seek…”
That wasn’t all. On their days off, the bored contestants, deprived of their phones, contact with loved ones and even knowing what time it was – worked together to entertain themselves in a rather unusual way.
Reece revealed how they decided to let off steam: “We had a day off and we hosted our own sports day in the back garden. I remember us putting all the mattresses in the hall one day and trying to do gymnastics!”
“We tried to make a tumbling track, we were all trying to do backflips and they were like: ‘What are you doing? Are you all 12?’ We had lots of fun. It was such a good season.”
