Singer Carnie Wilson has admitted that she “got butterflies” around her uncle, Beach Boys star Dennis Wilson.

While speaking on The Magnificent Others podcast she revealed: “He was always, like, this mysterious sexy man and he was my uncle.”

“But like, I’d get butterflies around him. He’s very handsome. He was very sensitive.”

The 57-year-old explained that she was 15-years-old when her uncle died. Carnie is the daughter of Dennis’ brother Brian Wilson, who also co-founded the band.

Carnie also praised her uncle Carl, who was also a member of the Wouldn’t It Be Nice singers with their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine.

She said: “Carl was an amazing writer, amazing singer. He really had such a great sound. He was protective.”

Dennis sadly battled alcohol and drug addictions before his death in 1983, aged just 39-years-old.

According to People, Dennis had allegedly been drinking on a 52-foot yacht when he jumped in to the Marina Del Rey in California and drowned.

During a 1984 interview with the publication, boat owner Bill Oster said: “He was just being Dennis, entertaining everybody, being his lovable self, goofing around.”

In a tragic turn of events, Dennis never resurfaced and his body was later recovered from the water.

At the time, Dennis’ bandmates released a statement: “We know Dennis would have wanted to continue in the tradition of the Beach Boys. His spirit will remain in our music.”
