The One Show’s Alex Jones abruptly cuts off guest as she’s told ‘move on’

The One Show favourite Alex Jones was forced to interrupt Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden mid-interview during the latest broadcast of the BBC One programme

The One Show’s Alex Jones had to interrupt a guest as she was told to ‘move on’ by producers.

Alex, who is a staple on the BBC One programme, has suffered some rather amusing blunders during her years in the studio. She once fell through the green sofa and (like every other presenter) has also stumbled over her words.

It means she knows exactly how to cope when things don’t go to plan during a broadcast. Alex and Roman Kemp co-hosted the show on Monday (28th April). They were joined by celebrity guests Elaine Paige, Giovanna Fletcher and Amanda Holden.

Elaine spoke about her remarkable career, while Giovanna revealed details about her new podcast (Cough to 5k), and Amanda spoke about her two latest TV ventures. Unfortunately for Amanda, her segment was cut short as Alex was told she had to move on as they were running out of time.

Amanda was talking about her upcoming Netflix series, Cheat: Unfinished Business, where she and relationship expert Paul C. Brunson help cheating partners find love. Amanda promised Netflix viewers a lot of “chaos” and described the new reality show as an “absolute rollercoaster”.

Alex was keen to find out more but, sadly, she couldn’t and had to tell Amanda: “I’ve got so many questions, but we are being told ‘Move on!'”

Amanda saw the funny side of it and didn’t complain, letting Alex steer the conversation towards the new BBC game show, The Inner Circle, which she hosts.

“There’s a BBC quiz show that you’ve done…,” Alex begun, prompting Amanda to joke that the BBC were keen to plug their own show. She quipped: “Oh, the quiz show! Oh, it’s because it’s for the BBC! Who’s upstairs asking?!”

“Yes, I’ve just finished filming,” Amanda said of the show. “I was thrilled to be asked to do it, because I’ve never thought about doing anything like that before.

Explaining the concept of the show, she went on: “It’s called The Inner Circle. It’s a general knowledge quiz.

“It’s a cross between The Weakest Link, Golden Balls, all kinds of shows. Again, it’s about human nature because at the end you get a pot of money and you’re working with a person. It’s about whether you split, or shaft,” Amanda explained further.

Amanda then joked: “And it’s general knowledge… I’m like, ‘Why have you got me to host?!’ but, I wore some fabulous frocks!”
