Oasis fans who missed out on tickets to see the band’s two Heaton Park shows in Manchester have managed to catch a glimpse of the action from a nearby hill
Some ticketless Oasis fans didn’t let the security measures and new fences around Manchester’s Heaton Park deter them from catching a glimpse of the Gallagher brothers, as they stormed the barrier. Liam and Noel Gallagher made a triumphant return to their hometown for their third gig in front of a whopping 80,000 fans.
Those who missed out on securing some of the most sought-after tickets in music history still managed to sneak a peek at the action from a nearby hill. During the gigs in Manchester, fans have been flocking to Gallagher Hill to watch and listen to the legendary band perform.
After hundreds gathered over the weekend, it seemed that police and organisers were keen to clamp down, as a large fence was erected blocking the view. However, the towering green fence and increased security seemed to do little to deter fans during Wednesday night’s show.
Some fans were seen scaling the enormous fences, ignoring police warnings and attempting to gain entry to the venue without a ticket. Others chose to remain on Gallagher Hill despite the obstructed view.
Fans climbed trees to get a better view of the Britpop band, while others came prepared with foldout chairs and picnic blankets. Over the weekend, police clamped down on ticketless fans in the area as some tried to breach the fence to see the Gallagher brothers, reports the Mirror.
Greater Manchester Police arrested six people for trying to blag their way into the gigs with “fake accreditation”, while others were nabbed attempting to barge through a perimeter fence. Oasis are gearing up for another two nights at Heaton Park on 19 and 20 July.
Snaps from the scene captured one bloke in cuffs being led away by a Greater Manchester Police officer, and another was spotted with a ladder.
Another pic showed a squad of coppers lined up outside various entrances around the edge of the park to block any cheeky attempts at sneaking in without paying.
But for those having a look from afar on Gallagher Hill, it was all grins and giggles as they caught the epic moment Liam and Noel Gallagher got back together.
Even Oasis axeman Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, hailed for getting the Gallagher brothers back on stage together, couldn’t resist sharing a clip of fans soaking up the tunes from beyond the venue’s walls, captioning it: “No tickets needed,” with a bunch of red heart emojis.
Greater Manchester Police have had a word, telling folks without tickets to give Heaton Park a miss. They also dished out some advice: “We would advise all fans travelling to and from the coming events to ensure they keep an eye out for information from our partners about transport options and road closures, allow enough time to get to the concert, keep hydrated and look out for each other.”
