Celebrity Big Brother icon Tiffany Pollard cemented herself as a reality TV titan in the UK during her time in the house, where she feuded with the one and only Gemma Collins
Tiffany Pollard has created some of the most of iconic reality TV moments ever.
The 43-year-old reality TV queen made a triumphant return to the Celebrity Big Brother world this week, appearing as a guest on spin-off show Late and Live. Her stint on the show in 2016 was nothing short of legendary and spawned memes for the ages.
The American TV star famously feuded with Gemma Collins during her time in the house, and her brutal takedown of the TOWIE queen is, undoubtedly, one for the history books. However, it’s not the first time she had clashed with a co-star on camera.
She shot to fame on the first two seasons of VH1’s reality show Flavor of Love in 2006. Here, she became known as “New York” by rapper Flavor Flav and would go on to become a non-nonsense reality TV sensation.
David’s Dead
Perhaps the most legendary of them all came when David Bowie’s ex-wife Angie Bowie tried to tell Tiffany that music legend David Bowie, her ex-husband, had died. Unfortunately, it created absolute chaos as Tiffany mistakenly thought Angie was referring to their CBB housemate, the now-late David Gest.
Tiffany was sent into hysterics and began wailing with grief, collapsing on Angie who was trying her best to calm her down. Angie was desperately trying to keep the information private, but Tiffany went outside and told the other housemates that “David is dead”.
Everyone was shocked and began searching for David Gest, only to find that he was safe and sound in his bed. Tiffany flew off the handle and was wondering why Angie would tell her such a thing, but she hadn’t realised Angie was talking about Bowie.
In fairness to her, Angie hadn’t added the surname, and hadn’t provided anymore context, so it’s easy to see where the confusion came from. An irritated Angie confirmed that she was talking about the Ziggie Stardust hitmaker.
And this week, Tiffany recreated her iconic “David’s dead” scene on Late and Live with CBB host AJ Odudu. AJ was talking about this year’s housemate, Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt on Corrie – specifically a storyline that left viewers fearing that his character had died.
Tiffany jokingly cried “David’s dead?”, leaving fans in hysterics. “She did David’s dead I am actually dead,” wrote one fan on X.
Another said: “Tiffany recreating David’s dead with David Platt OMG give her a knighthood, an Oscar and a Nobel prize ASAP”.
Gemma Collins rant
Tiffany’s infamous spat with The GC is unforgettable. They started off as friends but ended up falling out over a pair of shoes.
Gemma had given Tiffany a pair of gem-encrusted boots but later changed her mind and took them back. It’s safe to say it didn’t go down well with Pollard, who launched into an absolutely savage rant about the TOWIE star in the Diary Room.
“I really hope she goes home tomorrow,” she told bosses, “so I can let her have it on the way out of the house, because I can’t do it if she’s still gonna be a housemate.”
Big Brother then asked: “What would you want to say to Gemma?”. What came next was TV gold.
Without stuttering, Tiffany began: “Pretty much I will let Gemma know that she is a fat c***” and that the shoes that she gave me were not something that I would particularly buy for myself. They were old maiden-type of shoes.”
“And she said that those shoes were meant to be worn on a beautiful woman. So if that’s the case, she should have put them back on the rack. And she should never even purchase them because she was unqualified to own those shoes if that’s the case. And I think Gemma is just a disgrace.
“She’s a disgrace to women who are actually beautiful and classy. And she just doesn’t have the vernacular that she thinks she possesses. Somebody lied to her several times and told her that she was fly, hot, sexy and beautiful. And she’s nothing like that, she’s nothing of the sort.”
Luther Vandross swipe
During her time in Flavor of Love, Tiffany’s co-star Schatar Sapphira, known as “Hottie”, told her that she was jealous of her as her friends tell her that she looks like Beyonce. Tiffany didn’t quite agree with the assessment.
In fact, she couldn’t believe what she was hearing and screamed with laughter. “Beyonce, sweetie, I’m so sorry that an ugly a** b***h like this would even say that. Oh my god, are you f****ng insane?”
Pollard famously repeated: “Beyonce? Beyonce? Beyonce?” before adding: “You know who you really look like? You look like Luther Vandross.”
The moment has become a viral internet meme. One user on X described it as: “A shift in the cultural atmosphere”.
