Police have issued an update almost a month to the day after human remains were found near Taylor Swift’s home in Westerly, Rhode Island
Police have issued an update in the case of human remains that were found near Taylor Swift’s home.
The remains were first found washed ashore on May 14 in the Watch Hill neighborhood of Westerly, Rhode Island – a town where Taylor Swift owns a seaside mansion worth a whopping £10million.
Just over a month later, on June 17, the South Kingstown Police Department released a statement that the remains belonged to Eric Wein, a missing 31-year-old man from Massachusetts.

Mr Wein was reported missing on April 18, and his car was last found on Ocean Avenue in South Kingstown on April 10. The press release also stated that the South Kingstown Police Department worked with the Mansfield, Massachusetts Police Department and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners to come together to identify the remains.
Officers noted that his car had previously been spotted illegally parked in South Kingston on April 10 – eight days before he was officially declared missing, according to WPRI.
The press release noted that the police department “formally concluded its investigation. No foul play is suspected. We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Swift’s home, built in the 1920s, is also known as High Watch. It was formerly owned by Standard Oil heiress Rebekah West Harkness. Harkness inspired Swift’s song, The Last Great American Dynasty, which was released on her 2020 album, Folklore.
The discovery of Mr Wein’s body came just three weeks after an unidentified male was found in the Seekonk River in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The two bodies led some locals to believe the remains that washed up ashore in Watch Hill may be connected to the rumors of a serial killer.
But police do not believe any foul play was involved in Mr Wein’s disappearance, amid growing fears of a New England serial killer
