EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Chris Hughes and singer JoJo Siwa have sparked romance rumours as the pair grow close in the Celebrity Big Brother house, but an expert has weighed in
JoJo Siwa’s friendship with Chris Hughes has got a lot of Celebrity Big Brother fans talking.
The 21-year-old Karma singer has grown closer and closer to Love Island star Chris, 32, during their time in the Big Brother house. Their friendship began when Chris stood up for JoJo after Mickey Rourke made homophobic comments about her.
However, some have been left wondering if there’s more than friendship going on between them. On Sunday (April 13), the pair were seen in bed together, with Chris running his fingers over JoJo’s back.
In the morning, he told JoJo he “missed” her during his sleep, and she playfully asked him why she hadn’t been present in his dreams. On Monday, the duo were seenexchanging secret messages with one another, with JoJo scribbling something on his hand.
It’s prompted fans to speculate if they like one another and that a romantic connection is present between the two, even though JoJo is a lesbian and in a relationship with Kath Ebbs. Now a body language expert has told Daily Star what’s really going on between the two.
Mecca Bingo has partnered with Louella Alderson, relationship expert and co-founder of dating tool So Syncd, to share her thoughts on the pair. She insists there’s nothing romantic between them and it’s simply a “strong platonic connection”.
“Sometimes what fans interpret as “flirty” is actually just a strong platonic connection,” she told Daily Star. “JoJo and Chris are joking, teasing and physically comfortable with each other and this could simply be a natural dynamic between two tactile, extroverted people.
“They appear to have had an instant click, the kind that comes from shared humour, mutual respect, and a similar outlook on life, not necessarily romantic attraction. This type of bond can look like flirting from the outside, but it’s likely just intense emotional intimacy.”
Louella said it’s “extremely unlikely” that anything would happen between JoJo and Chris given her sexuality and relationship status. “JoJo being a lesbian and already in a relationship makes a romantic or sexual relationship with Chris extremely unlikely.
“Although they may have a strong emotional connection and their tactile behaviour can be misinterpreted, it’s important for people to respect JoJo’s current relationship.” She added: “Chris and JoJo can still enjoy a level of physical affection without any romantic or sexual dynamics.”
It seems like the pair may have annoyed some of their housemates with their latest antics. Big Brother gathers the housemates in the living room on Tuesday (April 15) and informs them of a rule break.
“This is Big Brother. Before you entered the house, the rules regarding attempting to communicate in code or write messages were clearly explained to you,” Big Brother says.
“Today, that rule was broken. At 1:59am in the bedroom, JoJo wrote messages on Chris’ hand in secret. Chris gave JoJo his hand and said, ‘you can write it out’. JoJo then wrote on Chris’ hand and said ‘It makes sense, think about it.”
JoJo and Chris are told to stand up, and singer JoJo swore the message had nothing to do with the nominations.
Big Brother tells them: “Chris, JoJo, you have broken a fundamental rule of the Big Brother house and you will be punished. You have communicated in secret so from now on your conversations will be anything but… JoJo, Chris, until further notice you are only permitted to speak through a megaphone for all to hear.”
Ella Rae Wise said: “I told you they’ve been having secret conversations.” Daley Thompson added: “But that’s not a punishment, that’s a punishment for us. They’re laughing because they’re annoying us,”
