White Lotus star shuts down killer theory but hints her character could be involved

The White Lotus season three opened with a shooting spree, but the details of who the gunman is or who the victims are have not yet been revealed to viewers

One star of The White Lotus has thrown doubt on one theory on who the mysterious shooter from episode one could be.

The first episode of season three opened up with a shooting spree, with Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) fleeing and seeing a body floating in some water. Fans have been going wild with theories, with some suggesting Mook might have a villainous streak.

The season is almost done, with the lead-up to the shooting almost complete. Fans have seen guns on the show, with Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) stealing one from security and Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) taking it back.

So it’s still unknown who the shooter could be.

Now, Jaclyn actress Michelle Monaghan has thrown doubt on one theory that has emerged.

Some fans have thought the monkeys that have been seen around the hotel, which is set in Thailand. Episode three was even titled “Mysterious Monkeys” and Kate (Leslie Bibb) thought it was a monkey knocking on the door when Laurie (Carrie Coon) scared her.

Themes of the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil monkeys have emerged too. In the first episode, the Ratliff siblings appeared to be a reference to them, with Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) wearing sunglasses, Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) with headphones, and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) drinking from a bottle.

But actress Michelle says fans need to take a step back from the monkeys.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she said: “You know, I’ve just got to debunk a theory out here. Guys, the monkeys did not do it!

“People have gone ape s*** thinking that.”

Host Jimmy replied: “I was hoping it was the monkeys. Those monkeys got a gold of that gun and started firing.

“That would be fantastic!”

Michelle went on to tease that her character could have some involvement. She said: “Well, I don’t know.

“You’ll have to watch. Maybe I go a little bananas. Maybe.”

Michelle’s character Jaclyn is one of a trio of girl friends who went to the hotel together. Jaclyn is a successful actress, Kate is a country club wife from Texas and Laurie is a lawyer and recent divorcée.

Despite being close friends reuniting, there have been hints that their relationship isn’t all it seems.

They have been talking about each other behind their backs, and Michelle had some advice for people in a similar situation.

“I think the moral of the story is don’t go on vacation with three friends,” she said. “Just avoid that number.

“It’s like two or it’s four, otherwise they’re definitely talking s***.”
