Hollywood star Will Smith is charging fans hundreds of pounds for pictures of him on his unlikely UK tour, with many fans wondering why he’s picked certain venues
A photo with Hollywood star Will Smith will set you back a hefty penny.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor, 56, is embarking on a rather unlikely tour across the UK that includes dates in London’s O2 Academy in Brixton, Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. He’s returned to music for the first time in two decades and is putting that infamous Oscar slap behind him.
Fans who want to pose for a picture with the Men In Black star will have to fork out a whopping £400 to do so. Tickets for the shows are priced at £61.60 upwards, but there is also the chance to get up close and personal with the star – for a pretty penny.
Available at his Brixton date is an Exclusive Will Smith Merchandise Pack, a VIP laminate, and an “on site VIP host”. Customers are warned: “THIS VIP PACKAGE DOES NOT INCLUDE A MEET & GREET. THERE IS NO ARTIST INVOLVEMENT WITH THIS PACKAGE”.
But if you opt for the Will Smith Group Photo and Soundcheck Experience, which is priced at £415, you’ll get the merchandise pack and the VIP laminate as well as access to a soundcheck before the show and a “group photo opportunity with Will Smith”.
Will Smith lovers attending the gig at Cardiff’s Bute Park on August 25 can buy the “Ultimate Will Smith VIP Experience”, which costs £1,290. This includes a photo opportunity with Will, access to the pre-concert soundcheck, a guided stage tour and a framed “vintage-style poster”.
Fans have been baffled by some of the venue choices for Will’s tour, as some believe he could have chosen larger venues. One fan on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Sorry… Will Smith – THE Will Smith is touring… playing London, Manchester SCARBOROUGH and …… WOLVERHAMPTON CIVIC HALL. How random.”
Another joked: “Love to be in the room when Will Smith’s management team are explaining to him how the hell Wolverhampton* ended up on the list of places on his tour.”
A third said: “Bit artists playing obscure areas will never not be funny because why is Will Smith playing in WOLVERHAMPTON?!?!”
Announcing his tour back in March, telling fans: “I’M GOING ON TOUR THIS SUMMER!! We’re hitting up UK & Europe to bring U all the hits, some new joints, and a few surprises. All these years, I’ve NEVER done a headline tour and I can’t wait to see you guys!!”
The Oscar-winning actor is also perfomring in places such as Madrid in Spain, Paris in France, Budapest in Hungary and Frankfurt in Germany. Smith has just released his fifth studio album – Based on a True Story – his first new music in two decades.
Smith is expected to perform songs from the new album as well as his classics such as Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It and Wild Wild West.
