Wynne Evans has broken cover for the first time since promising to fight for his job at the BBC.

The Go.Compare opera star, 53, looked calm as he grabbed a coffee in Cardiff before chatting with locals. Evans, dressed in a off-white jacket over a grey sweater, was the picture of relaxation as he strolled round the Welsh streets. The singer is gearing up for a legal showdown with the BBC, ready to take them to a tribunal over his axing from the Strictly Come Dancing live tour and his recent dismissal from BBC Radio Wales.

Evans, who sparked controversy after making an “inappropriate and unacceptable” remark at the tour’s opening show in January, has been left red-faced by the incident.

A source close to Evans suggests he’s out for justice, claiming that his reputation has taken a serious hit. They divulged: “He said he is going to a tribunal with the BBC and will fight with every breath in his body. Wynne feels he has been treated unfairly and won’t go down without a fight.”

“As well as an unfair dismissal, Wynne thinks he has a case for loss of earnings, as well as a potential breach of contract. He is being advised by a legal team and thinks he has a strong case to take forward,” the source spilled to The Sun.

The face of the Go Compare adverts had previously expressed remorse, acknowledging he was “deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused”. In a candid admission, he announced: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing”.

He added: “I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
