Lorraine Cheshire, a beloved British actress known for her roles in Sky TV’s Trollied, the BBC sitcom Early Doors and the school drama Waterloo Road, has died aged 65
Heartfelt tributes have poured in today for actress Lorraine Cheshire, who has passed away at the age of 65.
The Manchester-born performer was best known for her unforgettable roles in Sky TV’s comedy Trollied, the beloved BBC sitcom Early Doors, and the school drama Waterloo Road. Her partner John announced her death on social media, with moving tributes honouring her as a ‘wonderful talent’.
Faye McKeever, who starred alongside Lorraine in Trollied, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. Faye wrote: “Laughing with Lozza in unison will always be one of my favourite memories. I will forever be thankful of the Trollied day and the endless fun we used to share.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“Boy did we belly laugh. Whenever she started it would set me off, and vice versa. Thinking of John and Carly at this very sad time. Rest in peace Lozza.”
Christine Bottomley, who worked with Lorraine on Early Doors, shared a poignant image on her Instagram Stories showing a lit candle next to a glass of brandy and coke, adding a broken heart emoji with the words: “no words today”.
Anthony Crank expressed his grief, saying: “Just heard the horrific news that beautiful Lorraine has passed over. One of the kindest, funniest, beautiful and caring souls I ever had the privilege to know.
“My heart goes out to John and all that knew her. This week is awful, just hell on earth. Please give your loved ones the biggest squeeze tonight. REST IN POWER YOU ABSOLUTE QUEEN.”
Cheshire brought to life the character of Eddie’s wife Joan in the sitcom Early Doors, a brainchild of The Royle Family co-writers Craig Cash and Phil Mealey.
In her early acting days, she landed several minor roles in well-known shows such as Phoenix Nights, Clocking Off and Holby City.
From 2007 to 2012, she was a familiar face on Waterloo Road, playing the role of Fleur Budgen.
Between 2011 and 2018, she appeared in 63 episodes of Trollied, and also had stints in Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge and several episodes of the BBC soap Doctors. Cheshire polished her acting chops at a drama school in Manchester.
