Jade Thirlwall has revealed plans to experiment further with her solo pop career and reckons her fans will be “weirded” out by her next musical project
Former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall plans on “weirding” out her fans with her next solo album.
Having conquered the charts as a solo artist with her debut record That’s Showbiz Baby reaching No3 in the Official Charts, Jade plans to experiment even more with her next project.
The 33-year-old explained: “I don’t think I am a first listen artist, I like weirding people out, I like people listening to my music and feeling a bit disorientated or like it’s a bit too much and then they have to listen again and dissect it or like really listen to the lyrics or pick it apart. I quite enjoy that.”
Jade revealed she’s “writing the new record this year” and she hopes it will lead to her filling out arenas as a solo star: “I did a theatre show which was nice and I actually really enjoyed a more intimate setting but in my brain it was an arena show, I like all the bells and whistles.
“I love pop, I love putting on a show so I’d love to keep getting bigger with that.”
Whilst the Geordie star feels she has a long way to go with her pop career she joked she is at the top of her game when it comes to Greggs royalty.
Jade said: “If I get a pasty, they’re like ‘do you know what this one is for me’, I think I am the King of Greggs.”
Although when she’s at home in Newcastle she has to defend her baked goods against the seagulls, she laughed: “The seagulls there are crazy! They swoop down, the seagulls are literally addicted to pasties!”
She also hopes to star in and produce a documentary about her career alongside long-term boyfriend Jordan Stephens.
Jordan revealed he has “three of four years of footage” on Jade’s journey from Little Mix to solo stardom.
Speaking on his podcast Miss Me? Jade added: “I would like to do, like what we touched on, the documentary idea.”
Jade has arguably had the most success post Little Mix and although she says she was “gagging” to start her own journey she admitted it was intense.
“Last year was very intense I felt like it started as a baby snowball but it kept going and going, sometimes I couldn’t keep up with it.”
