Piers Morgan defends Susanna Reid after she is trolled over 'disgusting' habit

They may sometimes clash on Good Morning Britain, but there’s clearly more love than hate in the relationship between GMB co-hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.

As today Piers, 55, had Susanna’s back on Twitter after a Twitter user called out one of the journalist’s alleged habits.

The social networker wrote: “@piersmorgan any chance you can get @susannareid100 to stop sucking boiled sweets while she’s presenting @GMB.

“The clacking of saliva picked up through the microphone is disgusting. Cheers”

Piers hit back and sarcastically said: “I’m glad you’ve identified the most important issue facing civilisation right now & will take this up with The Clacker @susannareid100 as a matter of urgency.”

Piers has found himself embroiled in a number of spats this morning, after locking horns with Nigel Farage on Good Morning Britain.

Farage appeared on the programme this morning to discuss whether it was right for Black Lives Matter protestors to remove the statue of slave trader Edward Colson in Bristol over the weekend.

Farage, who described Colson as a “philanthropist” said he thought it was completely wrong to remove the statue.

He then prompted outrage when he likened the Black Lives Matter Movement to the Taliban.

Farage remarked: “The Taliban love to blow and destroy monuments form a different time.

“What we saw at the weekend was the worst form of mob rule.”

He also described the Black Lives Matter movement to a “far-left Marxist organisation”.

Piers later told Farage he was “gobsmacked” following the former UKIP leader saying it was wrong to pull down the statue of Saddam Hussein.

While Farage branded Piers “pedantic” for questioning him on whether he thinks there should be a statue of Adolf Hitler in Germany.
