Kanye West back in the race to be US President after 'filing official paperwork'

Kanye West is one step closer to becoming President of the United States as paperwork filed with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC).

It’s believed that a representative for Kanye filed the first form that is required by the FEC, Form 1, the State of Organisation stating that the Kanye 2020 committee will run as the “Principal Campaign Committee” with Kanye as the main candidate.

Kanye’s party has been named as the BDY Party, which last week he claimed stood for Birthday Party as “when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.”

Despite filing the first piece of paperwork, the Yeezus rapper is yet to submit Form 2, Statement of Candidacy which shows that he has spent more than $5,000 (£3,971) on campaign activity which then starts the candidacy status under federal campaign finance law.

The filing comes days after reports suggested that Kanye was withdrawing from the campaign just two weeks after he announced his intentions to run.

While celebrating July 4th with his family at their Wyoming ranch, Kanye tweeted: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.

“I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”

Kanye hired election strategist Steve Kramer as well as a team of 180 people to get his campaign up and running in Florida.

Speaking to Intelligencer, Kramer said: “We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot,

“Whether anybody is going to vote for him or not is up to them.”

Meanwhile, as the deadline to register to participate in the November ballot quickly approaches, Kanye has already missed the deadline in six states including North Carolina, Texas, New York, Maine and New Mexico.

The official Twitter account for the Oklahoma State Election Board recently confirmed that West has qualified for their ballet.

“Independent presidential candidate Kanye West has qualified for the General Election ballot in Oklahoma.

“Today is Oklahoma’s deadline for Independent & Unrecognized Party presidential candidates to file statements of candidacy with their petitions or filing fee,” they said.
