Holly Willoughby forced to call paramedic for Phil Schofield after eating chilli

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were faced with the prospect of eating mega-hot chillis on Thursday’s This Morning, which reminded them of the last time they shared a spicy meal.

Branding Phil as a “wally,” Holly recalled calling for paramedics to help her co-star after he ate the world’s hottest chilli live on air.

It all kicked off when TV chef Phil Vickery revealed he had a “hot” surprise for the presenting duo in the hours ahead.

He said: “All I’ll say is…. very, very, very, hot.”

Sounding suspicious, Phil asked: “Is this your hellfire sausage?”

Nodding his head, Phil confirmed it was, before adding: “I’ll tell you something now, you won’t sit down for three weeks.”

Remembering the chili incident from several months ago, Phil turned to Holly and said: “Well we’ve been there before.”

The pair remembered the time Phil beat his own record in eating the world’s hottest chilli – with dire consequences.

Holly scolded: “You wally, we had to call the paramedic out!”

The incident in question occurred in February of this year, when Phil took on the Paqui’s One Chip Challenge, which is one tortilla chip that has been coated with Carolina Reaper seasoning.

While eating the chip, Phil confessed he could feel his “pores opening,” as the chilli – which was crowned the hottest in the world in 2013 – entered his system.

He then tweeted: “After eating the hottest chilli in the world, I’m now recovering…Sitting in my dressing room with the shivers! All ok till it hit my stomach eight minutes later! I love a challenge pahaha..but I’m not looking forward to tomorrow.”

Later on today’s show, Phil tested out the chef’s recipe, chowing down on a chilli-dog filled with ghost chillis and cheddar cheese.

Phil Vickery warned: “I hope there’s a paramedic there because you might need it.”

Deciding against tasting the flaming treat for herself, Holly watched from the sidelines and said: “I’m going to spectate in case the wheels fall off and there’s only one person left to present.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
