Coleen Rooney warned she would 'play games harder' before WAGatha Christie post

Coleen Rooney reportedly posted a cryptic message about the person leaking details of her private Instagram posts before her infamous WAGatha Christie statement.

The latest drama in the warring WAGs’ saga comes as Rebekah Vardy’s team lodged a reply to Coleen’s defence, slamming Wayne Rooney’s wife’s “investigation”.

Vardy’s lawyers suggest that Coleen’s operation only took five weeks and a day, rather than the five months claimed in her controversial social media post shared in October 2019.

Coleen, 34, and Rebekah, 38, are involved in a High Court battle after Rooney publicly accused her former pal’s Instagram account of selling stories on her to the press after leaving a trail of bait on her personal Instagram page.

Rebekah has since claimed that Coleen shared a message on her page just days before she posted the lengthy Instagram post about someone leaking stories to a newspaper.

A section of the 57-page document created as Rebekah’s reply to Coleen’s defence reads: “The Claimant [Vardy] will also rely on a post she recalls the defendant [Rooney] made on her private Instagram account shortly before the words complained of were published, which said words to the effect of ‘If you play games with me, I will play them harder’.”

It goes on to state that Vardy does not know the identity of the person behind the leaks and claims that Rooney’s “careful investigation” lasted for five weeks and one day, and not the five months referred to in the infamous social media post.

In July, Rebekah filed a £1 million lawsuit for defamation, saying she had been falsely accused.

The fake posts shared by Coleen on her private Instagram page included stories about her resuming her television career, going to Mexico for gender selection of a child, and a flood in the basement of her new home.

Vardy’s lawyers claim Coleen’s private Instagram account was accessible to 367 others at the time of the leak, including friends, journalists and gossip column writers.

It comes after Rebekah’s team rubbished claims that Coleen has a secret witness up her sleeve.

A source told The Sun: “Coleen is prepared for anything.

“She has loads of strong evidence, including statements, and is planning to call witnesses if this goes all the way to trial.

“Coleen also has a big reveal up her sleeve which she intends to use if this gets to court. Her team has an inside man who is willing to talk.”

The WAGs have until February 8 to reach an out of court settlement before the showdown reaches a public five day legal battle.

It comes after Vardy won the first round of the libel case, after a High Court judge ruled that she had legitimate grounds to sue Rooney for defamation.
