Ant Middleton says 'snowflakes don't belong on SAS: Who Dares wins'

Ant Middleton has hit out at claims he was axed from hit Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins – telling the nation that ‘snowflakes don’t belong’ on the show.

The former solider, who has recently starred in his own Sky One breakaway shows with Liam Payne and Rebel Wilson, appeared on Good Morning Britain to address speculation about why he is leaving the series.

Ant told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that he was often at loggerheads with Channel 4 bosses who became more and more concerned with the safety of the show.

Ant explained how he felt the show lost its edge over time and even claimed the more recent series resembled a format like Celebrity Big Brother than a gritty SAS show.

Ant said: “If you’re a snowflake you don’t belong on the SAS set – this isn’t Dancing On Ice.”

Making light of the comment, Lorraine Kelly chuckled to Piers Morgan that she thinks Dancing On Ice is currently more dangerous than SAS in light of the recent string of dropouts.

Insisting that things were positive between him and Channel 4 for years, Ant said: “It is just smoke and mirrors and Channel 4 getting in there first [with their statement].

“They wanted to protect the brand. From day one we had a great relationship with Chanel 4.

“We said to them let us be ourselves, our humour is different, our build is different.

“It allowed us to be ourselves and to give an authentic show.”

Going into detail about how the show changed behind the scenes, Ant added: “It became a scripted show. Control was taken from me.

“Over the years the PC patrol and woke patrol have kicked in to the point you can’t say anything.

“We can’t even act on the ground without them stepping in.

“We weren’t able to put someone in water at shoulder level… now has to be at waist hight.”

In a statement to GMB, Channel 4 said: “Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our viewers and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again.”
