Changing Rooms star Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has admitted he worried he was “too old” to return to TV.
The famous designer, 57, is back with a newly revamped series of Changing Rooms, which will be airing on Channel 4 after moving from BBC Two – 25 years after the first ever episode aired.
The TV legend is returning to the classic show after nearly 20 years alongside Naked Attraction star Anna Richardson.
However, the stylish presenter confessed he thought he might be “too old” to return to the helm of the classic show.
Appearing on This Morning ahead of the exciting return of the show, which airs on Wednesday, Laurence said it felt like he’d never left the show when production began.

Presenter Ruth Langsford asked him: “Did it feel like you were never away?”
Laurence replied: “Actually yes, when it started, when we actually got going it was like being an elderly retired war horse that hears the cavalry charge.
“I literally reared up, straight up there.”
Although, Laurence then went on to say: “I did take quite a lot of coaxing out of the stable, though, it was quite a while,” suggesting that it took him a while to find his feet on the show, or even to decide to come back to it altogether.

Ruth asked; “Did you worry, did you think ‘it’s had its day, it’s great. Let’s leave it behind’?”
Candidly, Laurence replied: “[I thought I was] Too old! Way too old.
“Listen, last time I was painting ceilings, you know, I was 37. Now I’m 57.”
Ruth then protested that he’s not too old, quipping that he can just get someone else to paint it for him, prompting Laurence to laugh.

It comes just after he raised concerns over the idea of his former co-star Carol Smillie returning to the show – saying it would have looked like “Jurassic Park” if she returned to host.
When asked if he would have liked 59-year old Carol to come back to the rebooted show, he said: “No, and hand on heart, what the producers and what Channel 4 have done is actually very clever.
“They have moved on and it wouldn’t have worked if it had been Jurassic Park — it had to be a reinvention.
“And to be fair, I resisted it for a long time. I was very keen that they really should look at finding possibilities with other people.
“Otherwise, it would just be a revival, actually it always needed to be a reboot.”
Changing Rooms returns Wednesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
