Love Island 2022 confirmed as Laura Whitmore urges singles to apply – here's how

Love Island’s return to ITV has been confirmed by host Laura Whitmore at the end of tonight’s live final, with the beauty urging singletons to sign up for their summer of love.

Although the future of Winter Love Island wasn’t mentioned, the host did tell people that if they were looking for their summer of love, they should apply for the show.

She shared the news after revealing the fourth and third place in the final, with Kaz and Tyler landing fourth place, followed by Faye and Teddy with third place.

This year we saw more people on the show who had applied rather than been approached, with many of our favourite islanders starting the series with less than 5,000 followers on their social media sites.

As the 2021 show comes to a close, could you be a part of the line-up next year? Any single is welcome to apply to be in with the chance to win £50,000.

If you’re single and want to give reality TV a go, the only real question is, if you won, would you split or steal?

You can register your interest at ITV here with your full name and email address, you’ll then need to provide personal information about your background and your dating history.

ITV have said they’re looking for “vibrant singles” from across the UK who want to search for love and spend time in the luxury villa.

Applicants must be over the age of 18.

The casting process is no easy experience, with 2021 islander Georgia Townend telling Daily Star Online about her application process, which resumed after she initially got through in 2020.

She said: “I got the call last May that it wasn’t going to happen, but then they reached out to me again in January this year and asked if I was still single, which I was, so we restarted the process from there.”

Although Georgia didn’t need to apply again, she did go through some long conversations to get her in, adding: “I had to go through casting again, have meetings with the execs, have my medical and psych evaluations, fill in questionnaires about my dating history, and that took me right up to May.”

Love Island 2021 had over 100,000 applications

Earlier this year it was reported that over 100,000 applications were received for the summer series of Love Island, with ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri previously telling Radio Times that the casting team met with over 1,000 people.

They whittled it down to the islanders we’ve seen on our screens over the past few weeks, with some of them, like Georgia Townend, previously in talks for the 2020 summer series before it was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Winter Love Island 2021 was also cancelled due to Covid-19 as the producers put their all into bringing back an incredible summer series.
