EastEnders' Mia McKenna-Bruce who played Penny Branning now unrecognisable years later

EastEnders actress Mia McKenna-Bruce is almost unrecognisable since the last time she appeared on our screens in the BBC soap.

The star played Penny Branning on the hit drama, daughter of mainstay Jack (portrayed by Scott Malsen) when she was only 11 years old.

Mia appeared in five episodes of the soap back in 2008, which are still available on BBC iPlayer.

But the now 24-year-old, who has made appearances in other TV series like Holby City where she played two different characters, has changed a lot over the years.

In 2008 she played the character Abi Taylor and nine years later she popped up as Asia Lucas in 2017.

Mia also grabbed a role in the Netflix drama The Witcher, alongside Superman actor Henry Cavill, as well as Sheridan Smith-led drama Cleaning Up.

She’s well known for her part in The Dumping Ground, where we saw her as Tee Taylor, in the spin-off of legendary show The Story of Tracy Beaker.

Mia played Tee for five years, between 2013 and 2018, and last year she played a part in BBC and Netflix’s series Get Even.

The star keeps fans up to date on her social media with posts and recent snaps.

Her role as Penny is yet to reappear in Albert Square after departing 13 years ago, but she has been referenced numerous times.

Jack told Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) in 2010 that his daughter was better off without him.

Jack later moved across the Channel to France in 2013 in the hopes of reconnecting with his estranged daughter Penny.

But he soon returned to Watford on a permanent basis, and three years later he was seen speaking to his little girl on the phone, where Penny said she couldn’t attend his wedding to Ronnie because of a doctor’s appointment.

EastEnders’ fans will know the wedding ended in tragedy when Ronnie and sister Roxy (played by Rita Simons) were controversially killed off the show.

It comes after former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook’s daughter, Jodie, was said to be a spitting image of the star when she appeared in the soap.

Fans of the celeb couldn’t help but notice how much her ‘lookalike’ teenager had striking resemblances to her in her younger years.
