Craziest Tupac conspiracies – body double, corpse riddle and 'spotted in 2011'

Today (September 13) marks 25 years since the legendary rapper Tupac was shot and killed during a premeditated drive-by shooting, but some of his diehard fans claim this wasn’t the end of him.

Tupac Shakur would be 50 years old now and over the years, a quarter of a century to be exact, many fans have claimed that the icon isn’t actually dead.

The artist’s death surrounds so many conspiracy theories – much more than the usual celeb passing, with so many concoctions claiming that he is in fact still alive and kicking.

The star’s murder in 1996 sent shockwaves throughout the music industry and, of course, his worldwide cult fanbase.

Now, 25 years on from the day he was gunned down in Las Vegas, the Daily Star takes a look at some of the wildest claims surrounding his departure from the world.

From Malaysia spottings to New York sightings. Let’s take a deeper dive into these crazy conspiracies…

Tupac fled to Cuba

The rapper has been tied to Cuba in a few conspiracy stories, with locals in Old Havana claiming to have spotted him walking about town.

Videos of a man – who shared a resemblance to Tupac also added fuel to the rumour.

The Cuba connection runs in his blood as his aunt Assata Shaku is a political activist and former Black Liberation Army member – who was granted political asylum in Cuba in 1984, after fleeing prison in the US

The tale states that Tupac joined his aunt in the country to escape the high-profile life of a rapper.

Another Cuba link was led by theorist Michael Nice who argues that with the help of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Tupac was smuggled into the country.

The theorist debates that there was a hit out on Tupac’s head so there was a plan made to get him to safety after being injured during the shooting.

Body double

The next theory is that Tupac fled to New Mexico after using a body double.

A filmmaker called Rick Boss – who is a self-declared Tupac conspiracy theorist – believes the musician re-settled in New Mexico after finding out there was a plot to kill him.

Rick has stated Tupac used a body double to cover up his death or escaped Las Vegas by a secret helicopter.

On the back of his film 2Pac The Great Escape from UMC, Rick told abcKTNV: “This movie is about Tupac actually escaping from University Medical Center here in Vegas and relocating to New Mexico.

“Getting protection from the Navajo tribe.”

Best friend’s words

Tupac’s friend and former head of Death Row Records Suge Knight had also insinuated he was still alive after the attack.

Suge was there when it happened as he was the one driving the car the night Tupac was shot.

After the murder, he told the press that the star had laughed in the car on the way to the hospital.

Suge also revealed that Tupac had spoken about faking his own death shortly before the event when the two were on vacation.

He told: “We was in Maui, you know what I mean, and Pac had, like, never been to Maui. And he got to talking about faking his own death.

“And Pac was more down for doing, like, the last little videos and s*** of him dying all in the white with Redd Foxx and everybody like that.”

Illuminati involvement

This image is said to have been fabricated but it didn’t stop fans from conspiring

Suge’s son, Suge J Knight, had also peddled a theory that the Illuminati had something to do with his hit.

Suge Jr once shared footage of a man in Malaysia claiming it was Tupac.

He also posted a series of pictures of what looked like an older Tupac posed next to other alleged Illuminati members Beyonce and 50 Cent – though it was alluded to that there were fake.

Suge Jr uploaded a sinister screengrab of a text message that read: “You said too much. Time for you to go.”

Showing his reply: “The truth will be out and I’m not going anywhere.”

Some fans believed the illuminate were involved in his “disappearance”

He then followed this up with a video of him stating he was being followed, warning fans: “Beware of fake accounts. Their job is to distract you.

“The Illuminati are all about power. This is why you see powerful names getting locked up.”

Some of the world’s conspiracy theorists believe the world is controlled by a secret society known as the Illuminati, that dictates things from behind the scenes.

Activism antics

An activist was spotted in New York who was a dead ringer for the rapper

Tupac was rumoured to have been in New York in 2011 and to have become an Occupy Wall Street activist.

This was stirred up by another man bearing a strong resemblance to him who was snapped at an Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City, a movement that seeks greater economic equality.

The man wore a hooded yellow jacket and appeared to be trying to hide his face.

Bulletproof vest

Further evidence of the shadiness surrounding the lyrical genius’ shooting comes from the sheer fact that had left his bulletproof protection at home.

On the night of the hit, Tupac didn’t wear his defence garments, which is strange due to the face he was obsessed with protecting himself after a different shooting two years prior.

So, theorists believe it to be very strange when picturing him deciding to leave his vest behind, especially for a high-profile public event like a Mike Tyson fight.

Cremation questions

The events shortly following his dramatic death have been equally questioned, with his private cremation alerting alarm bells too.

Tupac was very quickly cremated the day after his shooting, in a private ceremony that Suge Knight reportedly paid $3 million for.

But strangely the cremator listed Tupac’s body as being 72 inches, or 6ft, and his weight as 215 pounds – which didn’t match up with his driver’s license which identified him as 5’10 and 168 pounds.

That specific cremator then weirdly retired, vanished, and has never been heard from ever since.

Alongside this, there was a planned public memorial for Tupac – which press were strictly banned from – but this was shelved last minute.

This resulted in the conclusion that Suge and the long-since-vanished cremator were the only ones reportedly to have seen Tupac’s dead body.
