Good Morning Britain fans have slammed Richard Madeley after he called a parenting expert “darling” during a conversation about Netflix show, Squid Game.
During Wednesday’s instalment of the hit ITV show, the 65-year-old TV host discussed the impact of the Korean horror series Squid Game with parenting expert Jane Evans.
Since the show dropped on the popular streaming service Netflix earlier this month, there have been reports of children recreating the terrifying game in the school playground despite the show being rated an 18.
As the Wiltshire expert expressed her hopes for children to stay away from violent content online, the TV presenter attempted to steer the conversation back on track.
The expert discussed her parenting methods to protect her grandchild from viewing adult content at an early age.
She explained: “I will be doing everything in my power to allow my grandchild, with my son and daughter-in-law, to have a childhood that’s magical.
“Children are full of imagination, they’re very creative little beings , so let’s not fill their childhoods with darkness.”
But when Richard argued how these tried-and-true methods have had little effects on the overall outcome of children, the parenting expert refused to listen.
He interrupted with: “Do you not take Rob’s point that we’ve been here before?” to which the guest expert refused to see his side as she said: “No, no, no.”
It was at this point that the broadcast journalist asked her to reconsider.
He urged: “Hang on, hang on, darling, just answer this question.”
But before the father-of-two could fight his case, viewers slammed the reporter online for his insulting words.
One user penned: “Did Richard Madeley just call the guest DARLING? He is an embarrassment @GMB.”
Another added: “@GMB did Richard Madeley just call her ‘darling’?”
A third chimed in with: “@gmb #richardmadeley calling a guest darling” with three cry laughing emojis.
Elsewhere, another agreed: “Richard Madeley calling someone darling on GMB is another level of Alan Partridge.”
It comes after the TV host made a huge faux pas on Monday when he commented on how slim and “tiny” Kate Middleton’s waist is.
Richard and his co-host Susanna were discussing the Earthshot Prize Awards which took place the night before where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the guests of honour as well as speakers at the event.
Kate, 40, donned a stunning Grecian-inspired Alexandra McQueen gown that she had showcased before at the BAFTAs and during a US tour as guests were asked to “recycle” outfits for the award ceremony.
After the show shared some footage of the royals at the climate change gig, Richard couldn’t help but notice her incredible figure.
He said: “She’s so slim, isn’t she, Kate, tiny, tiny waist.”
Susanna gave an awkward laugh but agreed that the Duchess of Cambridge “looks absolutely terrific.”
