The One Show was forced into a major presenter shake-up – after regular host Jermaine Jenas tested positive for Covid.
The flagship BBC chat show has been fronted by former footballer Jermaine and radio star Lauren Laverne recently, but things were a little different this week.
The popular show still went ahead in its usual 7pm slot on Monday night (February 21), but CBBC star Angellica Bell stepped in to replace Jermaine on the sofa alongside Lauren.
Welcoming viewers to the show without Jermaine, Angellica said: “Hello and welcome to your first One Show of the week – live on BBC One and iPlayer with Lauren Laverne…”
Lauren then announced to viewers that Jermaine wouldn’t be able to host the show all week as he’s tested positive for the virus and has had to isolate at home.
She continued: “And Angellica Bell. Lovely to see you. Covid’s back in the news today. Boris Johnson’s just announced all restrictions are lifting in England.
“However, on our team, we’ve been talking about the fact that Jermaine’s tested positive, flippin’ heck, so he won’t be here for the rest of the week.”
Wishing him well, she added: “Get well soon, mate.”
Angellica shot to fame as a presenter on CBBC between 2000 and 2006 – but she also co-hosts The Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV.
She occasionally fills in for presenters on The One Show, like she has with Jermaine this week.
The TV star also demonstrated her impressive culinary skills when she won the 2017 series of Celebrity Masterchef.
Jermaine played for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa before moving into work as a media pundit.
He began co-hosting The One Show in 2020 alongside Welsh star Alex Jones, and he became a permanent host on the show last year.
