Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway hit by more than 70 Ofcom complaints

Ant and Dec have been slammed with 71 Ofcom complaints following their latest episode of Saturday Night Takeaway.

According to the TV watchdog, 59 complaints related to a drag routine, which was performed by the two hosts on the night.

Plus, eight complaints related to a prank made against Jeremy Clarkson.

The hosts returned to TV screens on Saturday (February 19) and to mark the occasion the pair had a drag makeover.

They starred on their show in drag alongside the three winners from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK – The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Krystal Versace.

The Geordie duo donned high heels, wigs and stunning sparkly dresses as they danced around on the stage with the three other professional drag queens.

They dubbed themselves as Lady Antoinette and Miss Donna Lee – with a comical not to their real names.

On the night, many fans were quick to comment on Ant and Dec’s epic transformation and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan said: “How did they get ready so fast? Look amazing in drag, Who would of thought!”

While a third commented: “Ant & Dec in drag is all I needed in my life. I AM SCREAMING THEY LOOKED AMAZING.”

A fourth praised the show and tweeted: “@antanddec Best end of the show show ever! It makes me so happy to see the drag community represented on prime time TV! It’s a massive display of inclusivity and acceptance so thank you!!”

With both acts looking equally as amazing – fans struggled to pick their fave out of the two.

But something they could mostly agree on was that their performance and drag makeover was a complete hit with viewers at home, mostly…

The show also saw the pair pull off a prank on Jeremy Clarkson, where actors pretended to be protesters who showed up at his farm, in the Cotswolds.

Ant and Dec got involved as protestors with the help of disguises including wings and face masks, much to Jeremy’s dismay.
