Why isn't the ITV Dancing On Ice final on this weekend – and when will it be instead?

Dancing On Ice viewers are going to wait to find out which couple has won the 2022 series as the grand finale, meant to take place on March 20, has been pushed back.

ITV confirmed the final episode of the skating competition show has been postponed by a week due to a scheduling clash.

On the last episode, judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse voted unanimously to save Pussycat Dolls star Kimberley Wyatt, ending with the dramatic double elimination of Vamps singer Connor Ball and Olympic athlete Kye Whyte.

Meanwhile, Strictly star Brendan Cole and Regan Gascoigne went straight through to the finals by viewers’ votes.

Host Phillip Schofield presented the show solo for the first time after Holly Willoughby tested positive for Covid hours before the show began.

A spokesperson for the show said: “Unfortunately, Holly Willoughby is unable to host tonight’s show after testing positive for Covid-19. We look forward to Holly returning for the Dancing on Ice Live Final.”

Holly is expected to return for the final as it will take place after the end of her self-isolation period.

Why has the Dancing On Ice 2022 finale been postponed?

The final episode of Dancing On Ice has been pushed back due to a clash with FA Cup coverage

ITV is pushing back the Dancing On Ice final due to a clash with an upcoming football match on Sunday, March 20.

The change is due to the channel’s coverage of two FA Cup quarter-final matches, including the game between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, which is scheduled to kick off at 5.15pm.

Coverage is set to run for at least three hours, meaning it would run over the Dancing On Ice slot, which usually begins at 6.30pm.

When will the Dancing On Ice final episode be aired instead?

The Dancing On Ice final will air on Sunday March 27, a week later than initially scheduled. To make up for this last-minute schedule shake-up, fans can look forward to extra-long episode.

After the double elimination saw the exit of Connor Ball and Kye Whyte, the celebrities remaining on the show for the finale are Kimberly Wyatt, former Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendon Cole and Regan Gascoigne, the son of footballer Paul Gascoigne.

The change in schedule means the contestants making it to the final are getting an extra week off to work on their performances ahead of the new finale date.
