There’s certainly going to be a stir on the Weatherfield cobbles, as one major star has confirmed his return to Coronation Street.
Liam McCheyne has officially confirmed his return to the soap as he shared a snap of five scripts to his eager Twitter followers – leaving them thrilled that his character will be returning.
Liam plays Sean Tully’s son Dylan Wilson, who briefly returned last year and had to cope with his dad’s lack of money after being made homeless.
Sean later got involved in a dodgy pyramid scheme in an attempt to build a bond with his son – but things didn’t exactly go to plan.
Taking to social media at the weekend to share the news, Liam wrote: “BIG NEWS!!!!
“Can’t wait and super excited to get back to work @itvcorrie on May 17th.
“Hopefully many memories to come. Have a good weekend everyone, see you soon [thumbs up emojis].”
His fans soon poured into the comments section to congratulate him, with one gushing: “Great! About time!”
Another wrote: “Would love a signed script once they have been shown on screen!”
Liam has actually played the role of Dylan since 2011 alongside his twin brother Connor McCheyne, who alternated the role of the young lad in 2011 and 2012.
It was previously played by Charlie Corry and Grace Robinson in 2008 when Dylan was first born to dad Sean and mum Violet.
And iconic actor Antony Cotton has teased what the future could look like for Sean and Dylan – with the possibility of Violet returning, as he couldn’t rule it out.
He exclusively told Daily Star: “I’ve got a busy year ahead – my son is coming back. And we had a pandemic so everything changed for everybody and Coronation Street was no different, so that’s going to happen and there may be some kind of new friendship/relationship that happens.”
Speaking of Violet’s return, Antony stayed tight-lipped, but conceded: “I couldn’t possibly say anything to do with that and I genuinely have no idea how that may map out.
“Things change all the time and it all depends on how it maps out.
“What we’ve always done at Coronation Street is see how storylines evolve naturally. All I know is Dylan is around that’s all I know.”
The Sean star added: “My job with my role within the show will probably stay the same and do the same as Sean has always done, always optimistic and always looking for the best in people.
“This year of all years is when we are really gonna need that.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
