Where the cast of Blade Runner are now – tragic deaths, horror accidents, heated bust-ups

Classic sci-fi film Blade Runner is getting a TV spin-off with the original film’s director Ridley Scott set to produce the Amazon Prime series.

Widely hailed as one of the best flicks of all time, the 80s classic set in 2019 with synthetic humans known as replicants will now be looking into a futuristic 2099.

It comes after Ridley pleadged the TV show will “uphold the intellect, themes and spirit of its film predecessors”.

Harrison Ford – Rick Deckard

Harrison Ford (Rick Deckard) took on the lead role first offered to Dustin Hoffman, who turned it down for being “too macho”.

He called it his most difficult film experience but boosted him to leading man status with Patriot Games, The Fugitive and Air Force One among his many follow-on blockbusters as well as the Star Wars prequels and Indiana Jones sequels.

He has been in a number of aircraft accidents and near misses cheating death and is married to Ally McBeal’s Calista Flockhart. Next year the 80-year-old pulls on a fedora again to reprise his role as Indiana Jones.

Daryl Hannah – Pris

Daryl played Pris

Daryl Hannah (Pris) scooped the part over Debbie Harry from Blondie, who was Ridley’s first pick, and scored huge hits next in Splash and Roxanne as well as Kill Bill.

Her love life has seen relationships with John F Kennedy Jr, a marriage to Neil Young and she spoke out about suffering sexual harassment from Harvey Weinstein, whom she claimed stopped her finding work after Kill Bill.

In 2002 the now 61-year-old played Robbie Williams’ love interest in his video for hit single Feel.

Rutger Hauer – Roy Batty

Rutger Hauer (Roy Batty) wore hot pink satin trousers and huge green sunglasses for his Blade Runner audition and later branded it his favourite film he’s starred in.

Following this success he took on roles in Batman Begins, Sin City and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Married twice, he died in 2019 aged 75 from an undisclosed illness.

Sean Young – Rachael

Sean Young (Rachael) went on to star in sci-fi flick Dune, Wall Street and Ace Venture: Pet Detective.

But her career took a tumble after a horse riding accident meant she had to pull out of playing Vicki Vale in Tim Burton’s Batman. #

She turned up at Catwoman auditions for Batman Returns in full costume and after missing out to Michelle Pfeiffer hit out on The Joan Rivers Show.

The actress’s appearance impacted her reputation but she returned in Blade Runner 2049 in CGI form.

The 62-year-old married, divorced then re-wed actor and composer Robert Lujan. She was placed under citizen’s arrest at the 2012 Oscars aftershow where she tried to get in without a ticket and slapped a security guard.

Edward James Olmos – Gaff

Edward returned for the Blade Runner sequel

Edward James Olmos (Gaff) moved on to acclaimed roles in Stand and Deliver, Selena, Battlestar Galactica and Dexter plus returned for Blade Runner 2049.

The star, 75, scooped a Golden Globe and Emmy for Miami Vice.

He has been married three times and involved in two sexual assault accusations, both of which he denied.

Joanna Cassidy – Zhora

Joanna has appeared in Desperate Housewives

Joanna Cassidy (Zhora) played Dolores in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and enjoyed success in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead before an award-winning turn in Six Feet Under as Margaret Chenowith, and episodes of Desperate Housewives and Law & Order: UK.

The 78-year-old has been married once to Dr Kennard C Kobrin.

James Hong – Hannibal Chew

James has been married twice

James Hong (Hannibal Chew) has been kept busy with hits such as Big Trouble in Little China, Wayne’s World and voicing characters in animations Mulan and Jackie Chan Adventures.

In May this year the 93-year-old received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He has been married twice, now living with second wife Susan Tong, mother of his daughter April.

M. Emmet Walsh – Bryant

M. Emmet Walsh (Bryant) found his next role in the Coen Brothers’ first film Blood Simple, joined Will Smith in Wild Wild West and animation The Iron Giant.

Guest appearances in Home Improvement took the 82-year-old to the small screen.
