Jeremy Kyle star was unrecognisable after rehab transformation before tragic overdose

Jeremy Kyle saw some huge transformations over the years as struggling members of the public sought to turn their lives around.

Tragic star Kristie Bishop gave fans of the show one of the biggest changes after coming on the show to get help with her addiction to heroin and crack for 15 years.

Kristie who was originally from Melton Mowbray but lived in Luton, was whisked off to rehab to undergo a 12 week stint in rehab following her appearance in 2018.

Kristie’s mum Dominique told Jeremy on the show that she didn’t know how else to find the right help for her daughter, saying: “We’re so desperate because she’s going to die.”

Despite getting help, Kristie couldn’t be saved from her habit after an inquest heard that the 35-year-old died from a drugs-related death in March 2020.

Following her first appearance on the axed ITV show in 2018, she later returned the following February to show off her rehab results.

Spectators on the show were left gobsmacked after witnessing her glam transformation.

Looking totally unrecognisable, she paraded her new drug-free image in front of the cameras and appeared to be completely grateful for the support she’d received.

Kristie explained her entire process: “My first night in rehab was really difficult because I had to go through a withdrawal process, so I had to go as long as possible through a detox before I could be stable on my medication.

“I know at one point I didn’t feel very positive and I was really poorly, but now I’ve stabilised and on my medication it’s a totally different story.”

In high spirits she concluded her experience: “It’s been tough, but my head’s in the right place, I’m in the right place and I’ve got a really good support network.”

Although it had seemed like Kristie had turned a corner on the programme, she eventually returned to her drug taking ways and sadly died of from a drugs-related death, an inquest heard.

After collapsing in her flat with a syringe next to her, Kristie was rushed to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in March last year and was pronounced dead.

The investigation into Kristie’s death took place at Ampthill Coroner’s Court on October 6 2020.

Coroner Dr Sean Cummings, concluded: “Kristie was found collapsed and had been in that position for a prolonged period.

“As a result of that, the doctor told me she had a condition called rhabdomyolysis – where the muscles die and break down.

“It floods the body with toxins… the collapse was started with drug use.

“The muscle breakdown put a great deal of strain on her other organs, her heart and particularly her kidneys.”

Summing up the inquest, Dr Cummings said: “My conclusion is that Kristie died of a drug-related death.

“That concludes the inquest and I’m very sorry.”
