Hollyoaks Lucas star William Hall announces he's leaving Channel 4 soap after nine years

Hollyoaks child star William Hall is leaving the Channel 4 soap after nine years.

The young actor has played Lucas Hay since 2014, taking over the role from previous stars Reuben Thwaites and Jude Hawley.

Lucas is the son of Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies) and half-brother of Leah Barnes (Elá-May Demircan) and Hannah Hay-O’Connor (Maddison Allen).

William took to his Instagram page on Sunday (October 9) to share some news with his followers.

He penned: “Thats a wrap on #lucashay wow it’s been an amazing 9 years playing this character and not one moment has been bad.

“Honestly, I am so happy to be able to say I have been part of the Hollyoaks family and although it is sad I’m leaving, I’m leaving with happy memories.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, it means a lot.

“Can’t wait to see what the future brings and to share it with you!”

Alongside his lengthy message, William shared a series of snaps showing his transformation from his first days on the show to now.

He also posted snaps alongside co-stars Kirsty-Leigh Porter, Duncan James and Nick Pickard.

Unsurprisingly, William’s latest social media update caught the attention of his fans, with some rushing to leave a message for the star in the comment section.

One fan wrote: “We love you William, good luck for everything and will always still support you!! Thanks for bringing us Lucas.”

Another added: “Lucas Hay was definitely a character made for you.”

A third person said: “Good luck for the future”

While a fourth person added: “Going to miss you.”

William’s co-stars who shared some kind words ahead of his soap exit.

Bobby Costello actor Jayden Fox said: “Good luck Will”

While Erin Palmer, who plays Ella Richardson in Hollyoaks, said: “We will all miss you will !! good luck in the future.”

William first appeared on TV screens when he was just one week old, with Steve Coogan and Lisa Millett in the BBC Drama Sunshine.

In 2013, he was the lead in the Christmas Aldi Commercial for their famous Chocolate Reindeer, and appeared in the Aldi Super Six Christmas advert for which he also provided the voiceover.

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with first look episodes at 7pm on E4
