Emmerdale Al star Michael Wildman's exit – mum devastated, new job and spooky prediction

Emmerdale viewers were left gobsmacked when Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) was killed last year.

Al was murdered in shocking scenes of the ITV soap after being gunned down by his rival Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) young son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).

Cain has taken the blame and is currently behind bars.

Actor Michael Wildman joined the cast of 2019 and has opened up about his emotional exit after playing the character for three years.

From predicting that “things were coming to a head” to his mum “crying like crazy” following his final scenes, Daily Star has taken a look inside the soap star’s life.

Michael said he had a feeling Al was going to be leaving the show a year before it happened.

He said in a previous interview: “Over the past year, I felt things were coming to a head.

“So, when the executive producer rang to say ‘We are thinking of letting Al go’ I told her ‘I’m with you – so long as Al doesn’t leave in a taxi’.

“I wanted Al to go out with a bang and he definitely did.”

After his final scenes played out, Michael said his mum was going to be “crying like crazy”.

He told The Mirror: “My biggest thing now is picking up the pieces for Mum, as she is going to be crying like crazy. But I don’t think many others are going to be gutted Al is dead.|

|I’ve died three or four times with different characters I’ve played over the years. But the difference is this is a character who I have given life to for some time. Al is much dearer to me than other characters I’ve said goodbye to.”

Michael has already landed his first major role since leaving Emmerdale and will be involved in a Netflix drama called Baby Reindeer, where he plays a bar manager whose colleague has been stalked for 10 years.

Previously speaking to the Mirror: “My character is a bit of a wide boy but he is not a villain.

“The drama is being filmed in London which means I’ll be able to come home to my bed every evening. It also means my wife can take on more projects herself.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at ITV at 7.30pm
