Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney put aside decades-old feud to record new music

The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney have put aside decades-old rivalries to record new music together.

Mick Jagger and the boys soon return with their first album of original material in 18 years and one track will feature their Beatles adversary on bass.

Despite a few early collabs, McCartney and The Stones haven’t always seen eye-to-eye and as recently as 2021 the Hey Jude man appeared to belittle the band’s ambition when he said: “The Beatles net was cast a bit wider than the Stones.

“I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are.”

Jagger hit back on stage a few months later when he quipped: “Paul McCartney is here, he’s going to help us – he’s going to join us in a blues cover later.”

Now Jagger and McCartney have decided to Let It Be with Macca getting involved on the new Stones album while visiting the same recording studio where the bands are holed up in LA right now with producer Andrew Watt.

It’s not the first time the two camps have collaborated – McCartney and John Lennon wrote early Rolling Stones hit I Wanna Be Your Man and sang backing vocals on 1967’s We Love You single.

However, contrary to reports emanating from the US, I can confirm there is absolutely no truth in McCartney’s old bandmate Ringo Starr also being involved in the album.

The only drummers who play on the new LP are late sticksman Charlie Watts and his successor Steve Jordan.

Keith Richards confirmed recently: “You haven’t heard the last of Charlie Watts.”
