Carol Vorderman says 'there's special place in hell' for MP after Paul O'Grady remark

Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman has hit back at PM Dominic Raab over his Paul O’Grady blunder.

Carol has ripped into “bully” Dominic Raab after he mixed up the TV icon’s name during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday as he filled in for Rishi Sunak. The Deputy PM mistakenly called Paul O’Grady, who died this week, “Paul Grayson” as he answered questions.

However the MP did recognise his mistake and later corrected himself before describing the comedian as an “incredible comic”.

However, it was too little too late for Carol who ripped into the politician on Twitter.

Tweeting in response, Carol wrote: “DominDick Ar*e Ooh soz I got his name wrong.”

She added: “Name checking Paul O’Grady as ‘Paul Grayson’ in the House of Commons today For many reasons, I think there’s a special place in hell for this bullying piece of…… Don’t you?”

Some fans rallied in response to Carol’s tweet, praising the former Countdown star for calling it out. One tweeted: “I love it when Carol comes with the fighting talk! Well said”.

Another added: “Well done Carol. This misnaming of people they are all doing shows a total lack of respect. Its intentional and rips my knitting.”

“He then went onto suggest he knew what Paul O’Grady and Lily Savage would both (yeah he seems to think they’re two people) would think politically. Despite Paul being vocal anti Tory. Disrespectful and arrogant of raab,” said a third.

Another wrote: “Paul O’Grady was a national treasure and to belittle his memory in this way was disgusting. @DominicRaab whether you liked the man or not you should not be laughing even if it was a genuine mistake, which I doubt. Imagine how his family must be feeling.”

However, some fans felt Carol’s criticism was too harsh for what they deemed to be a simple mistake. One tweet wrote: “Ah to be fair I’m having to think very hard when I sing the National anthem these days. Very hard to recall a name when the pressure is on”.

Another replied to her tweet to say: “Where has innocent until proven guilty gone, Carol? Really quite a low tweet, even for you. I think the way you behave on twitter sometimes, as demonstrated in your current tweet, it’s you that’s the bully here. Or is it only applicable if you’re a Tory?”
