He continued, “We can share this experience of walking through life together. I’m always so overcome with gratitude for that, because I’ve been alone for most of my life.”
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and explore the couple’s romance journey…
Dating app
Pop sensation Lily Allen spilled the beans on how she snagged her dashing Stranger Things star hubby, David Harbour.
Believe it or not, it was all thanks to the celeb dating app Raya.
Lily shared with Sunday Times Style that her path crossed with David’s while he was filming in London.
“He was shooting a film in London, playing a Russian character,” she dished to Sunday Times Style.
“He had the name Karl Marx tattooed on his fingers.”
The lovebirds’ first date took place at The Wolseley, where David awaited his lovely lady under the restaurant’s iconic big clock.
Lily gushed” “I remember looking at him, and it reminded me of Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic, you know? When she’s going to meet him under the clock.”
Shocking revelation – it was Lily’s very first date ever! “I had never been on a date! I was so anxious,” the starlet confessed.
First public appearance
David and Lily were first romantically linked in January 2019, when they attended the BAFTA Tea party.
Later, they were spotted together in London in August of the same year, as David filmed the Marvel movie Black Widow.
The couple was also spotted at Saturday Night Live’s afterparty in October, which celebrated David fronting the acclaimed comedy program.
In the same month, they appeared to confirm their romance as Lily shared photos from David’s SNL appearance.
David and Lily made their first red carpet appearance together in October 2019 when they attended The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Champions for Change Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
Lily wore a floral dress with pink and sheer detailing around the collar while David looked smart in a black shirt and jacket.
A day after their first outing, the pair were photographed kissing at a basketball game in Madison Square Garden.
In October 2019, the couple confirmed their romance on Instagram. Lily posted a photo of David on her account with the caption, “Mine.”
David also posted a photo of Lily with a heart emoji. They have since shared various photos together on their social media accounts, including photos of their wedding.
The proposal
In a 2021 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, David Harbour, the Stranger Things heartthrob, revealed that he popped the question to his lovely lady, Lily Allen, just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
David recalled a touching moment that prompted him to propose. He shared that it happened while spending quality time with Lily and her daughters, Ethel, now 11, and Marnie, now 10.
The actor told the 55-year-old chat show host, Jimmy Kimmel, about a family bike ride during which Lily’s youngest daughter struggled to find the right name to call David.
“She was going like ‘David! Dad! Dav… Dad!'”, he said. Amidst the confusion, Lily’s eldest daughter chimed in, saying, “He’s not our dad.”
David then revealed that Marnie asked, “What is he?”, to which her older sister replied, “Just… he’s just some guy in our lives!”
The endearing moment inspired David to propose to Lily. He explained on the show, “And I was like, ‘I need to marry this woman because of the emotional fallout’.”
With a hint of humor, David shared that he’s still referred to by the girls as “some guy in [their] lives” and added, “That’s the favorite thing I’ve ever been called.”
Vegas wedding
Fans were left stunned when the celebrity power couple announced they had tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony in Las Vegas three years ago.
At the time, the couple shared their special day with fans, posting snaps of their Vegas wedding online.
Fans have since been treated to sneak peeks into the duo’s blissful married life, including Lily opening up about their home in the Big Apple.
The love-struck pair exchanged vows in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony, and David spilled the beans that an Elvis Presley impersonator had officiated the event.
In a surprising twist, the bride revealed that she had bought her chic mini dress on the actual day of the wedding, as previously reported by the Independent.
The newlyweds, joined by Lily’s daughters, celebrated their union with a “small reception,” complete with mouthwatering burgers and fries from a popular fast-food chain. Talk about a wedding to remember!
Future plans
In August 2021, David revealed in an interview with “The Guardian” that he and Lily had moved to California.
He said they had been living in London during the pandemic but decided to move to Los Angeles for work.
In the same interview, he also discussed their plans for the future, including possibly having children.
He said, “I have never been a dad. I have never had that opportunity. I’ll have to figure it out when it comes, but I think I’ll do a good job.”
