Jodie Comer forced to cancel Broadway show just minutes in as she struggles to breathe

Jodie Comer was forced to cancel her one-woman show in New York.

The Killing Eve actress had to halt her show on Broadway show amid hazardous air quality in the city amid Canadian wildfire hazes.

Schools in the area and in Washington DC did not offer any outdoor activities as an advisory alert for Manhattan and New Jersey residents was issued.

The Mirror reported that she was 10 minutes late for her scheduled matinee performance on Wednesday (07 June), before she announced she could no longer perform just three minutes into the show.

According to Deadline, an eye-witness source said that Jodie was helped off the stage after she exclaimed: “I can’t breathe in this air.”

It’s understood that a replacement understudy took her place for the performance before a spokesperson for the show told The Hollywood Reporter that Jodie had “difficulty breathing due to poor air quality in New York City.”

Major Canadian wildfires meant smoke drifting down in the eastern part of the United Sates caused orange coloured hazy skies and more problems in the south.

The Mayor called the event “unprecedented” as an Air Quality Health Advisory was put into effect for several areas, including Long Island, New York City Metro, Lower Hudson Valley, Upper Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Eastern Lake Ontario, and Central New York with advice that people wear face masks if they venture outside.

Mayor Eric Adams said: “We recommend all New Yorkers limit outdoor activity to the greatest extent possible.

“Those with pre-existing respiratory problems, like heart or breathing problems, as well as children and older adults, may be especially sensitive and should stay indoors at this time.”

It was reported that only Delhi, India was said to have worse air quality as New York had the second worst air quality in the world of any major city on Wednesday.
