Emma Stone confessed she was once so jealous of rival Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence that she considered quitting fame for good.
And now the pair are set to go head-to-head after both starring in raunchy flicks with plenty of full-frontal nudity, which includes Emma’s character having sex with an apple and Jennifer being punched in the vagina while naked. Emma’s flick Poor Things sees her as a woman recently revived from the dead and undergoing a sexual revolution, while Jen’s saw her attempt to seduce a younger boy.
But the actresses have history. La La Land star Stone confessed to Vanity Fair that “there was definitely a time early on when I was like, ‘Oh hey, my ego is going nuts, she’s so great and vibrant and talented, I’m screwed, I’ll never work again, goodbye yellow brick road.’”

But she later realised they were different, adding: “There is room for everyone, even if it’s an industry that doesn’t really seem to support that idea up front. We both really do love each other and care about each other as people beyond being actors.”
At the same time, X-Men star Jennifer was jealous of Emma, telling Howard Stern: “She got one thing that I was dying for, but the one thing that really killed me, like the only time I’ve ever been truly devastated by losing an audition… was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.”
Jennifer lost out on that role to Mia Wasikowska, while Emma Stone took the main role in rom-com Easy A – which Jennifer also auditioned for.
In a hilarious interview with the pair, Jen confessed: “I auditioned for Easy A. I wanted it so bad.” While Emma cheekily fired back: “Well, guess what? You didn’t get it. You didn’t get it because you suck!”
Jen’s Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson first introduced the pair, with Emma asking for Jen’s number and texting her – to which Jennifer jokingly replied: “F*** off.” She described their text exchanges as “our version of The Notebook – 365 texts.”
While playing “horny legend” Bella Baxter in her new film, Emma “couldn’t shy away from” nudity, with director Yorgos Lanthimos confessing the scenes are a “very important part of her journey.” He said: “We felt that we shouldn’t shy away from it. It would feel very disingenuous to tell this story about this character who is so free and so open, and then be [a] prude about the sexual aspect of it.”

Jennifer, meanwhile, didn’t give her nude scenes a “second thought” in No Hard Feelings, confessing: “Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?’ I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.”
