ITV Big Brother star Jordan Sangha explains poignant reason he joined show

As we near the end of Big Brother’s triumphant return to UK television, one of the stars of its comeback has revealed the real reason he applied to join the ITV show.

Jordan, 26, who hails from Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire, has provided entertainment in the house from the offset and has unsurprisingly become the bookies’ favourite to win the series on Friday (November 17). After flirting with Chanelle Bowen initially, Jordan soon struck up a bond with self-confessed Tory, Henry Southan, dubbing him his “husband”.

The pair took their relationship to the next level at the weekend, indulging in a spot of passionate snogging in the hot tub before sneakily kissing in each other’s beds when the lights went out. It even prompted Big Brother legend Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace to question on social media “how Jordan has gone from ‘I don’t like to be touched’ to Mr Snogathon.”

Now, Jordan, who is a lawyer, has opened up on what made him decide to put his career in the court room on hold in a bid to become a reality TV star.

Speaking to HeatWorld, he explained: “Well, I love the show. I was quite disillusioned with life so I suppose boredom made me apply to some extent. I honestly applied on a whim.”

He continued: “I’m interested in the social experiments side of Big Brother. I don’t really like the idea of living with people but I thought I might as well give it a try. And I wanted to challenge myself.”

Jordan, who says his friends would describe him as “flippant” and sarcastic”, added that his pals always say they “never know if I’m joking or not, so I suppose I could be difficult to read to some extent”.

And opening up on his sexuality on the show, Jordan told doctor Matty Simpson that he was “glad to be here” and “glad to be queer” before detailing the moment he came out as bisexual to his mum: “I came out to my mother the first night of university, screaming down the phone in the smoking area because there was this guy that I fancied,” he said. “And I thought for some reason, if I come out to my mother this guy will want to…”

Prior to entering the house, meanwhile, Jordan explained how his accent came about. “I was born on a council estate,” he began. “I am a huge fan of Downton Abbey, I watched the show as a child and thought ‘wow, they sound rather nice’. So, I just learned my accent from Downtown Abbey.”

Should he win on Friday, Jordan said he would probably spend the prize money on “renting in Kensington for a month or two” and a “shopping spree at Harrod’s”.
